I don't see ur point... binmen exist in capitalist society and they still work... why wouldn't they in a communist? If they were earning the same as a doctor - they'd feel a hell of a lot more self respect.

They'd have more self value than they ever would in a captialist society.

two very different things

what if a war were to kick off between india and pakistan, or in iraq, or between israel and palestine, or in afghanistan, or in chechnya, or cuba, or laos, or south africa?

Surely part of the responsibilty of being a 'developed' country with an ample budget is to police (probs a poor choice of word) the rest of the world and prevent such outbursts? We need a military for this. On top of that, don't forget that the services are a huge source of employment for 16yr old school leavers with little or no education, conversely they also employ some of the country's most educated people and put them to work developing and researching things that eventually make it down to the common market and improve the economy and our lives.

doctors go to medical school and work hard and struggle with no money for years to get to their postion, no disrespect to any binmen, but they should not be paid the same!!

I've no problem with peace keepers and such... But the cold war is over why are we still lining the millitaries pockets on pointless projects (some of the space shit for example)....

It should be more thoroughly investigated just what they are escaping from...maybe we shud start helping other govts more and then there simply wouldnt be so many asylum seekers.

personally speakin (and this is the lazy bastard side of me) if i was gonna be gettin paid the same amount of money whether i was a doctor or a binman i would not study at school etc. whats the point of workin ya ass off all ya youthful years if ya gonna get paid the same as a binman.

You don't understand communism darling... no one owns nothing - everything is state owned... so money is not the motivation.

But if your saying a doctor is a better person than a binman your wrong... just cos he chose to train for his jobn does not make him a better human being

Different strokes for different folks I suppose I may be wrong but I think cuba trains more doctors than anywhere else (as a percentage)

tbh i've absolutely no idea how the military budgets, and even those people who do won't know about all the secret shit military waste their money on. I was just pointing out some of the plus points.

The bulk of the budget does not go to foot troops and such... I do belive we need an army (but I also believe the days of madmen like hitler taking over the world are long gone)... Only country that could ever do this is America and lets face it they basically rule the world doing as and what they please.
