Just out of interest a question for the good DJs on the board, how long did it take you practising and how often until you could mix consistently?

not long, i did a tape at the end of the first day id been mixing and i think its pretty decent even now, i did play on my dex for a good 10 hours that day and often mix far worse now with colds and flu.

Thought i was awful at beatmatching on my first decks (Gemini XL500 II's) since NOTHING ever seemed to stay in time for any longer that a few bars before things galloped out of beat.

Then after practicing on traktor with the idea of pitch bending and adjusting pitch in a more "digital" environment - ive trained my ears a bit better...

... now with my new cd decks ive picked up 100 times faster than i did with vinyl. The great thing about digital is that unless you have vinyl-cd transfers with wow/flutter, then theres no excuses for not being able to beatmatch properly anymore .......Still got a long way to go but hey :)
