by law you HAVE to register on the electrol roll the goverment pretend its there to enable you to vote but really its to try and keep track of whos where and when
i didn't realise that, i only ever get aletter once a year asking if the people in the house are correct, but hardly any of our clients are on the roll and loads of people i know aren't. plus most famous people arent on it cos any tom dick or harry can find out your exact address just by using 192.com or summit :spangled:
yeah you CAN get a massive fine for not registering on the role along with a court appearance, thisisnt often enforced but iv been getting real nasty letters recently threatening such action
Re: Re: Debt NO, the worst thing is to have a black mark on your name through people stealing your identity - so you havent ever made any mistakes but keep getting nasty letters from different companies about you owing money all over the place and it isnt even you!
does anyone know how i check my name at another address? coz someone was using my details at an address in wallsend - but to obtain the experian report you have to be the actual person at the actual address so how do i find out if this person at this address has done any other naughty things? i just keep getting nasty letters from all over the place threatening allsorts you see. The police can only do so much.
PRINCESS JANE EXPERIAN told me when an address of mine was being used for fradulent applications, but I don't think they can do it the other way round because there may be more than one person with your name if you see what I mean. Re debt management - www.fsa.gov.uk have some good advice and from personal experience I would add to throw all your money at the debt making the most 'noise' freeze your credit card in a bag of water so you can't use it unless you really, really have to. Make a chart of your income and outgoings and see where you can make some cuts. divide what is left by the weeks in the month and put a weekly amount into another account. Only take the card for this account out with you when shopping/partying to reduce spending urges. Sell your crap on Ebay/old books on Amazon. Take on a second job. Have a 'house' account just for bills and pay a set amouint in there each month so you know they are covered. Have all your direct debits come on on payday so you know exactly how much you have to play with. Start paying attention - don't just open your statements, check your account on line regularly to avoid nasty surprises. Get your credit file and assess the damage. I should be debt free by the end of the year thank fook, money is evil!
at the minute I'm paying every bit of money I get my hands on onto my credit card, then using my card to get by with.. this has advantages as most the shops round here don't take card and with no cash on me I can't waste little bits here and there (which usually end up being big bits)... plus I'm doing uni work all the time so I never have the oppurtunity to spend.. therefore even if I do, I it will be far less than my income, so my balance is constantly going down.. my thinking is if you pay money onto your card it wont go back on unless you spend it, whereas if you stick it in your bank theres more chance your gonna blow it.. strange logic but seems to be working, £400 wiped off my credit card in 3 weeks should be credit card debt free by about may with any luck
Student Loan debt doesn't matter, its not as if your every going to get a job that pays above the threshold
my name, my date of birth etc? its well stupid then - if the debt companies can link me and that address together but i can't find out any crack
try 192.com to see if you're on the electoral register there, just search your name and area and it brings it up, it's a start
it seems to be a premium listing for someone with a similar name to me - however people missspell things so it could be - anyone already signed up and fancies spending 25p to find out for me?
Theres some worrying things being said on this thread about debt. As someone who danced with debt a while ago, i can say first hand that its one of the most depressing, argument causing and awful things ever to be in a position like some people here are on. The CAB is the right place to start if your in serious trouble - a few people on here should do that ASAP. Dont leave it till its too late.
i dont think he will, he can hear in my head i call him M-ARSE it says that it is a directors listing does that mean its someone who is a director?
According to the CPR, service is good at the last known address, in some cases even if the documentation is returned, which is why in a lot of cases moving away does not stop creditors getting CCJs. My only advice to anyone who receives a default notice or letter before claim is DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT STRAIGHT AWAY. The worst thing you can do is ignore it. Most creditors (in my experience) are willing to come to an arrangement if you contact them immediately, admit you're in a bit of bother and try and discuss it. It is unreal the number of people I speak to every day who wait until they've got CCJs registered against them, charges on their property etc who "thought it would sort itself out". Read whatever you receive in detail and try and discuss it with them. Also, companies like CCCS, Payplan, all those debt management things may seem good but they're mostly pretty useless. The CAB mean well but unfortunately is made up of volunteers who can only offer you assistance if you're not looking for some kind of legal argument to use.
what makes you say that alex??? this hasnt happened in my house as no one is listed as living there at the moment on the E Roll but there ARE ppl listed on council tax and housing benefit
council tax and electoral roll are different.. I vote for hereford county council and was last paying council tax in newcastle..
iv just found out i have recently been given a CCJ because some tenant didnt change the water rates over to their name and then didnt pay them.... Northumbira Water have gone to court and got a CCJ against my name at the flats address.... thing is I have never had any coresspondance to my home address..... I only found this out after seeing letter addressed to me at the rental property. Thing is all they have is a name, they obv dont have my address otherwise i would have been hounded for payment.. they have the name of "Joe Bloggs" living at 123 Some Street...but how do they tell which Joe Bloggs it is? there could be dozens of similarly named ppl living in the ares. Apparenlty my name has been added to the local courts records and my credit has been effected... I find this very hard to beleive as they have no other personal infomation except a name. I rang Northumbria Water to try and sort and they asked me for a date of brth and a home telephone number straight away.......I laffed and refused to provide that information... They where obv trying to get this info cos they have fuck all to go on... I suposed ill have to apply for a credit card or something to check if these CCJ's mean anything
Pike - I was wondering about water companies etc cos I've just had a last elecricity bill as I'm changing suppliers but they don't even have my name, they just keep addressing it to the occupier. I wonder if they could do anything if they knew I was the only one living there :s Nymark - did you just think they would forget about it and you wuoldn't have to pay it any more?!?! Even by settling the debt you can still have a CCJ and they stay on your credit file for 6 years making it hard to obtain credit for that time or at elast increasing the rate. I see loads of people at work who just don't realise how missing payments and gettnig CCJs can affect them. Even by having 1 CCJ it can change you from a high street lender to an advers one and put up your interest rate by at LEAST 1% and you then have to put down a 5% deposit, something which is quite difficult for those on low wages or who are having a bit of money trouble. There are also loads of people who don't even realise they have defaults or CCJs cos they can be given without your knowledge. If you are having a bit of trouble just cnotact the lender or company and tell them then they will sort something out, maybe pay a bit less each month until you can afford more , youd be surprised how much this will work and will stop you getting those CCjs and defaults Or if that fails, jsut pay your bloody bills
