He hasnt signed yet - apparently aston villa might hijack the deal even tho hes on wearside as we speak, nightmare
According to the banter on the sunderland forums, the craic is that Daniel Levy is moving the goal posts regarding the price - as wants to try and recoup the fee that they paid for him and we are sticking to our valuation. Bent is on wearside and a medical was booked in for today on the premise that the clubs could agree a fee in time, which didnt happen so the medical didnt take place. He wants to come here and terms have been agreed, its just a question of doing the same with Tottenham... Its been interesting seeing Bent's twitter updates over the past few days - arriving on wearside on monday night he posted something like "thats a hell of a long drive, will all be worth it tomorrow though". Then yesterday morning he posted "Wished Crouchy well for training this morning, for me its a medical at Sunderland tomorrow and i cant wait to get started". And finally today - posted "Im off to play ball with the kids while they sort this confusion out" - which adds up with the issue over the fee.
Levy is clearly a cunt, especially when theyve supposedly got crouch for 9 million, seems because everyone knows we have got money to spend there adding up to 5 mill of the true value to a player

aye but look where it got us. if your lot pay any more than £6-£7m then you've been done, especially considering his wages.
And the fact that he's pony. How they can command such an amount of cash for a player who missed some of the chances he did last season I do not know. Wasn't Harry Redknapp quoted as saying that his mother could have finished one of the ones he missed? Spurs will be laughing all the way to the bank when this deal goes through.
Its the going rate though in todays market, for a player his age on the fringe of the england team who last season scored 17 goals for spurs and finished as their top scorer ahead of Keane, Pav etc. I have absolutely no problem at all with spending that kind of money on Bent, always thought he was a decent player at Charlton and the year before his move to Spurs he finished with 20+ goals in a relegated side which is why he went for the fee he did then. Hes proven premiership quality which is what we need, and fair enough it hasnt went as well for him as he probably hoped since leaving Charlton though he desperately wants to come and play for Sunderland and is hungry to do well, which will do for me.
michael owen: 89 england caps, 40 goals darren bent: 4 caps, 0 goals i'm not in any way saying that the £16m for owen was justified, but bent is hardly a regular and proven international! he's absolutely shite in an england shirt!
as long as Bent dosnt raise his transfer fee to 17 million, turn up crocked then rinse the club for 4 years for 110k a week, spend most of it on horse feed then leave for free ILL E HAPPIER THAN YOU LOT Mugs
Is this still not done? Fee's been agreed hasnt it? So its either wages or medical holding it up (could be crocked ) EDIT - on Sky Sports News he has passed his medical. Sounds like its gonna drag on a bit longer
