Hello, just came back from this weeks free party at cosmic and found that they don't even provide free tap water! only bottled soda for £1 or normal bottled for £2 (which I had to end up getting 'cos of thurst). I thought that it was a legal requirement to provide free glassed tap water. Thought I would just ask you guys out there if it was or not.

    here we go again

tbf, the ballrooms arent the only place that do it like - digital have done it a fair few times if i remember correctly, as is the case all round the country.

however, if it's the ballrooms doing it, it's 100x worse. for obvious reasons:

hahahah oooh didn't realise there was a thread! apologies!
digital have never done it to me before. But I think Cosmic should sort it out since it was my mates who were trying to keep people in tonight!

Was lush having the upstairs just open but to have just me and 6 mates trying to keep people in was cool but to charge for simple drinks is just a bit shit. I even asked the 'manager' and he said ''we would not charge tap water if it was to offer (which they didn't have and I am sure was illegal)'' just simple things like that which annoyed me tbh!

    Thread merged.

The provision of free drinking water is not a legal requirement unless stated in the Premises Licence and Opratng Schedule.

A lot of Clubs/pubs have this condition imposed by the Police or Local Council, but if it isn't they are not obliged to give out free water.

Whether a venue that doesn't give free water is failing the Responsible Retailing of Alcohol guidelines is a grey area.

The Club does, that's a fact.
If everyone is THAT interested, I can find out the reason why the barstaff are reluctant to serve it from the tap behind the bar, but rest assured the taps are fully functioning in both the ladies and the gents toilets, which is precisely what it's required to do.
