i dont think they greedy at all, to have the risk of your life every day at work, its worth alot of money, although they dont have alot of life threatening situations, theres still the chance there could be.! ;)

They may risk their lives but their going about this the wrong way. It isn't right to put innocent people at risk just to make a point. That's both selfish and greedy.

Their independent pay review is just weeks away. Why can they not wait until the outcome of that?

40% is ridiculous....surely they cant really beleive theyre going to get it

If they get a 40% rise then wooooosh open go the floodgates for every other public sector worker...and WHOOOOOOSH go the taxes.....people cant afford to pay for the taxes so WHOOOOOOSH go prices of everything as businesses try to make a living....ok maybe thats worse case scenario but u get my point

this one fireman was moaning as he had to take on a window cleaning job to pay for his house and car etc...well o.k...i'll get a mortgage i cant afford and a few cars on hire purchase and then claim im not being paid enough as i cant afford them....its called budgeting you fucking idiot!!!

i imagine becoming a fireman isnt something you do because your scraping the barrel and thats all they had left at the job centre...it must surely be a career youve wanted to pursue for a while....you know the pay...WHY WHINGE WHEN YOU GET THERE???

    PAH!

Yeah, I'm not really disputing that. However, the amount they're asking for is plain stupid. Like Helz said, if we give in to the firemen then who'll be next to go on strike in order to force a payrise.

As far as I'm aware, the police are kept gainfully occupied for their shifts. One of the things about firement that really pisses me off is that they get paid to sleep and play pool when there aren't any fires to put out.

Yup, makes perfect sense although it could have backfired a little bit as a lot of people now seem to think they are being greedy!

The police are kept very busy and it is an extremly stressful job, but as Helz said (I think), if we gave them a pay rise, all of the emergency and public services would want one. I think that the fire brigade is being very unfair and unreasonable.

I agree with you. It could major problems if there is any serious fires.

Yeah, I think public opinion has changed during the last week or so. The public aren't as supportive towards the strikers now.

Yes give em a payrise, but not 40% they are doing a dangerous job and deserve a rise but 40% is just ridiculious (spelling) and if they dont like living on,what is it 23k a year, they can always swap with me and have 12k a year, that'll make em think, then they might just stick with what there being offered instead of what they want.
