Just had visions of Alan Partridge

Dead on with that tho, I think the promoter can't be blamed for a set up not being in place, the promoter was the one who got all the rooms kitted out for us on fri, for me it;s something that i'll never change my opinion on because if your a night club u should have a night club set up, maybe u can excuse bars for not having as good kit but a club I don't think u can.

    aye that there

if you as a dj / artist know what you need to perform, its up to yourself to make sure what you need is available. if thats taking something yourself or asking the promoter to provide it for you - if you get to a venue and somethings not right, its down to the dj not requesting it or the promoter thinking all he has to do is print some flyers login to facebook and call a booking agent.

the club has nothing to do with it except provide the room - as a promoter you should have already asked what equipment will be provided before you book, not before the main act arrives and theres 400 people waiting at the door

Most of the places i play have 2 CDJ's & some sort of DJM as standard but to think a venue like Gay Dave hasnt got a good setup really does boggle my mind like.

Plus a bad tradesman always blames his tools :D

Went in there on thursday as my mate was playing there.

Had look about and it had the same shit set up as 2 years ago when i was last in.

Crap cdj's upstairs with an on its last legs djm 600 which crakled loads on one channel. Smallest active moniter i have ever seen connected to the mixer.

Downstairs nowhere to sit now, maybe one new speaker,no moniter for the main booth.

Compared to the hype on the posters there has been no major refit at all just taking out of seats and adding some new lights.

God knows what is going nice's mind having loads of House/minimal/Tech-house nights on at both clubs every friday (Except for curves).

    Why compete against yourself.

would you be expected to turn up at digital with your own rig to play, i dont think so. Maximal is right.....however under normal circumstances you would be able to go along to the venue pre-event to check out the rig to make sure it does fit your requirements....if not you can sort it before the event. This was CLUB camp davids opening night and wasnt possible however you would not have never expected to have the same shitty set up the had before, you'd think they'd have splashed out a little bit on some decent decks and a good mixer.

They havent got off to a very promising start....lets hope they sort their shit out.

They are a business so I dont think you can really blame them for wanting to make more money?

tbh people have moaned and moaned and moaned for years that there arent enough venues in Newcastle and now another one has been made available, people slag it after its only been open a week

club camp david or cosmic will both be doing worse than they are now in 6months time

and the majority of nights now running there wont be in 6months due to overley high rents and inability to consistently sustain numbers

can we revisit this thread in the summer and see how many predictions are correct

the only thing that will enable nights to function at a profit / break even is if said veneus drop rent or give the venue for free

melt was your prediction about the minimal nights correct then? just i can't fully remember what was said. I would say give camp david a few months and see what happens, although one thing should be pointed out, they definately should have changed the name of the place

they are doing this because its been branded as a refurb

a refurb into a club does not equal a lick of paint and taking out the tables and chairs

shall we be seeing habit at le camp soon, or they heading back to whq, other rooms etc...

personally, it was an ok bar with expensive drinks BUT in a great location for the newly reburbished Digital.

As a club, it works less well for me

Lance Cpl Udberg has been out in his helicopter gunship and captured the QE2 which will be moored in the spot previously occupied by the Tuxedo Princess and used for all future Habit events.

It's their whole perspective on giving you more 'Club' options tho.

    More Venues = Brilliant

Increase of similar nights = Disaster

Look now at how many nights there are now all within a 10 minute radius of each other, all slogging it out month after month that scrape (at best) a few hundred people through the doors:
Waxon, Cleer, Disco Noir, Balance, Slums, B2B, Jaunt, Exhibit A, Lube... theres 9 just off the top of my head!

It's gunna be impossible for some nights not to suffer
