What were some people expecting fabric? for what has been done its not a bad little space. Only complaints i'd have is the fact they've set up a night club with and we had to take our own CDJ's, i'd of had DJ equipment in the budget!

I haven't seen camp david busy as a bar for ages now, i couldn't say when the last time was, i personally though as a bar it was on its arse, even big nights at digital didn't have the place rammed.

they've done that because they know you'll all take your own in.

did they add insult to injury by putting a set of numark twin players in there as well?

I know thats why its so annoying!

They had 1210's which was a bonus but didn't see any CDJ's of any type when we dropped bonnicks off.

sorry but you only have yourselves to blame.

everyone expects cdjs, 1210s and a djm 800 in the box. the place you play hires out the room or lets a bunch of bedroom djs do a night for nowt. they fuck the gear just because they're useless / pissed. this happens over and over again until the gear is in such bad condition the next people in bring their own gear out of fear of having a bad night.

this has been happening for years and now instead of replacing bad gear / hiring proper djs, bars buy the most fucking awful kit, knowing that if the djs want any better, they'll unload their bedroom for the night

everyone has done it including me, its a vicious circle.

im looking at buying ITCH to combat this - but still undecided

On the other hand, when you are paying large amounts of money to a venue then the least you should expect is that the venue has modern equipment or atleast a soundsystem that works although that seems one step too far for some of Newcastles club owners

They've probably had the same sound engineer in that we used to have.

he had a reputation for swapping out amps for shit budget ones and pocketing the difference among other things...

    Nail on head.

Nothing more embarrasing than booking a big name DJ & running round like a blue arsed fly friday night trying to replace a fucked club monitor or sort a set of CDJ's for other rooms, the Cosmic was an absolute nightmare for this.

back when I used to do the habit warm-ups there the dj booth was alright, they had 2x1210s a pioneer djm500 mixer and a pair of cdj800s, and a couple of little monitors either side of the booth, that not the case anymore?

I have dj'd in many of Newcastles bars and clubs, and never have I been expected to supply my own cdjs. In fact, if one did, the chances are I wouldnt play there, doesnt instill you with confidence if they not only dont have a decent set up, but also a full spare set up in case of a failure with anything

Why the fuck do some people not realise that you cant change the colour of a shit by throwing a few quid at it? How the fuck they get to own / run venues is beyond me

Yeah it amazes me that places like Opera and bars in The Gate have good equipment yet some of the places that consider themselves to be "proper music venues" havent.

I actually think it clever to have a venue close your other ones, itll hopefully bring more people to the area, and if so, double your money
