if you receive a caution you have to have admitted to a crime. if you say you didn't do it they have to either charge you or let you go. once you have a caution it means you committed a crime.
now that everything is on computers it's very hard to get it off your record.

i have a caution and to work in schools I had to have an enhanced crb.
they let me work there because the offence was a minor one and nothing to do with children.

it's not always the case that you will be refused by employers, especially if the caution was a long time ago and it's amazing how many people have cautions for weed on their records:D

What's it for anyway MoS? I had one when I did a bit of work for the CPS, and it showed up a caution from when I was 13. But just explained to the manager what it was for etc. and they were fine with it.

It will show up, my drunk and disorderly and possession cautions did. Cautions do not get wiped off your CRB check I'm told, they are on there for life. What the police mean by "Will be wiped off your record in five years" is that if you get cautioned for the same offense again, but after five years, it will not have any relevance to the most recent caution (ie, if you get two cautions for the same offense within five years, police may prosecute)

And always remember that if you want to immigrate to Canada, New Zealand, Oz or America, a clean record is desirable otherwise you will have to pay for a solicitor to argue your cause. I do believe if you've ever been arrested, then you have to declare this to get into America (as was highlighted with Lilly Allen recently)

    fuck that.

i had a possesion caution not long ago like, and it didnt appeear on my CRB check for my doorman badge (although i still can't afford the fucking course!)

however, for the SIA - minor cautions (such as possesion of cannabis) arent really taken into consideration, just cautions from acts of violence etc.

so i suppose it depends what the people who want the CRB check done will take into consideration.

even then though i was shocked that that caution didnt come up.

Mine was for possession of a Class C Substance, which was Ketamine. What I can't understand though is that this was back in May 2005 (fucking Ikon Bouncers at Goodgreef thinking it was coke), and Ketamine was not classified as a Class C Substance until January 2006. Want to see if I can therefore get it scrapped from my record (as it caused me shit in trying to further my career as a youth worker when I was back home). Any ideas how to do this anyone?
