the smoke will still fill the non smoking areas though!

Tobacco smoke contains over 4,000 different chemicals. At least 43 are known carcinogens, which give you cancer.

43!!!! I dont understand why people do it. Paying shitloads of money, to kill yourself! Its crazy.

Something needs to be done like.

i think the goverment is gut less. if they were really bothered about people health - make it illegal. but ohhhhhhhh nooooooo they like the taxes from it much more. Same with advertising - it's illegal to ADVERTISE smoking but not to actually do it?!? again, money money money for the government.

i smoke, i also think second hand smoke is as harmful as me inhaling straight from the cig - so i don't expect other people to have to smoke it - i think there should be seperate areas, to cater for all people. only thing is it probably would be costly.

Can't be arsed to read this thread so don't know if this has already been said. I dont think smoking should be banned in all public places. fair enough people who dont smoke have to have the choice to go somewhere which is completely smoke free but I think smokers should also to have the right to be able to go somewhere where theyre allowed to smoke (and i dont mean outside)

    Denial

I voted yes to banning it, but am very doubtful it will happen, for reasons already stated. Am thinking its a good idea, alittle far fetched to say that ppl will quit smoking just so they can go to the pub, unless they're alcoholics of course

Does anyone know if its working in places like the Metrocentre?? I havent been since they started the non smoking. Jus curious if they are inforcing it? :)

its like sayin that due to emissions from cars all vehicles that give out toxic or harmful emissions should be banned. see how many non smokers kick off about having to bike or walk to work!

also think it would be very hard to enforce the rule in bars and clubs. can u imagine having to throw every punter that was smokin out of a packed club on a friday or saturday night? the doorstaff would be pissed off at somewhere like foundation, what would it be like for the guys at somewhere like ikon tryin to get 800 charvas not to smoke on the dancefloor! lol

i can see where you're coming from in the case of people overusing cars for small journeys... but they are required for many other important things, ambulances for example, thats all i was meaning.

I was just going to mention that.
It would be interesting to see how many non-smokers voted No to the ban and vice-versa.

Yeah, I admit that, who didn't, but I learned the error of my ways, and stopped. I aint smoked for absolutley ages, and it was only the odd one really on a nite out.

I got that info off a site anyway :D

As for cars, at least they are used outside, therefore have a less immediate damaging effect on everybody close by.

Wheres the pleasure in smoking when your addicted? You get the odd baccy rush when ur 14 but sod all after that. I dont do pills so cant comment first hand, but im sure they give people a better buzz than cigarettes!

If you dont smoke how can you say that theres nothing to enjoy? Who said they smoke cos it gives them a buzz? people have said they like smoking. There are times when having a tab is one of the nicest things ever. Like when you're stressed and need to chill out a bit.

the issue isn't what kind of buzz u get off it - it's the damage it's doing to you. people feel other kinds of drugs are an acceptable risk.
