unfortunatley ade's right....it's not classed as being socially acceptable & whether this is right or wrong the conformist don't care!!!

these r however the same as those who joe mentioned earlier that will find it acceptable to c 2 women kissing & stuff in public but not men!!

it is sad that even in this day in age that ppl cannot accept ppl 4 who they r!!! - this may also b down to how these ppl were brought up!!

i.e. i work with a glaswegian (spelling!!) bloke who has a problem with any1 who is not white, straight & prodestant (spelling!!!) - this is how they were brought up in glasgow years ago & in some cases they still r!!! - his face was a picture when after knowing me for 3yrs he finally realise di was a catholic!!!

he spoke to me differently 4 a while but eventually got over himself - shame he can't do the same with regards to coloured & gay ppl!!!

    :)

"most" people should be able to flaunt their beliefs, I put skaters in the same category as nazi's they should both feel shame and not flaunt their colours in public :D

Si's point was people shouldn't flaunt their sexuality in public if they don't want to be ridiculed, my rply was people should be able to flaunt their sexuality regardless.... what did I miss?

Ade I agree with ur points... but I hvae a little taste darling :D

Si didn't say that they shouldn't, just that with society as it is today, many people will ridicule them. I'd agree with the 'most' bit though. As long as by flaunting whatever you are doesn't either hurt someone else, or incite violence etc, then people should be able to flaunt what they like!

Ade just reiterated what I had put (I think).

Anyway, I think we all know that we are really on the same side of this argument (those who are left in it anyway), so shut up so I can get some work done! :D

All agreed, I think, even Si

I'm pretty sure he meant they don't have a choice to hide or 'flaunt', but wasn't very clear

the end, now get some work done BOB!

unfortunately this world is not perfect.

and in general people fear the unknown. its the society we live in today that has been corrupted by the government/media because of fear of bein different. most people just want to fit in and be accepted by society so go with the majority. unfortunatley bein 'gay' is still not openly accepted by all. i think this is mainly due to the older generations and the views of their times being passed on to their children grand children etc. But eventually it will be filtered out because every now again people will wait and decide for themselves intead of takin what their fore fathers say to be gospel truth. It will just take time.

For example the womens rights thing that was mentioned earlier.
Who would have thought that women could be equal to men eh?
This would have been ridiculed not so long ago but now you hear of very few cases where this is the case and when they do happen its nearly always the older generation thats the cause of it. As long as people are aware of the facts and that its not wrong just different then eventually society will 'accept' it. Variety is the spice of life dont you know. I also think that the whole aids thing has play in this one. Because most people associate aids with bein gay and this frightens people. Im not sayin this right its just how it is unfortunately. :(

If anyone disagrees with this then fuck off. just kiddin please discuss. :D

I agree with everything but the aids comment... think has little to do with homophobia... there was homophobia long before there was aids.

aids didn't create homophobia, but it's often used to justify it
