well aware of that, but you can tell a black person walking down the street, you cant do that (usually) with a gay person!

it's the "hello, I'm xxxxx. I'm gay so deal with it" which you DO get from time to time I'm talking about. That is a choice!

Someone's sexuality doesn't define a person and shouldnt make any difference unless you're planning to shag em. It shouldnt have to be hidden and for exactly the same reason it doesn't need to be broadcast either.

What im saying is that it doesnt help the cause, and nor does "I dont mind straight people as long as they act gay in public" because even though it's reversing the prejudice to make the point it just reinforces the prejudice.

I'm sure we're agreeing here but from different points of view.

    Nope we're disagreeing :p

If a straight person broadcasts they've pulled xxx women or openly flirt with women its socially acceptable but if a gay person does it it's discrimineating. Erm how?

Jamies badge is sarcasm, not biggoted opinions. I don't mind gay people as long as they act straight in public is your average homophobic responce to gay peoples sexuality as I'm sure your well aware.... Jamies badge is witty sarcasm - i don't think anyone other than yourself has found it offensive.

Shaun has no choice in his sexuality as I have no choice in my jewish herritage, as I broadcast my race, he broadcasts his sexuality - where is the harm in this?

I like who I am, I'm not one of these who will dress up in fluffy wings with a rainbow flag above my head shouting I'm gay look at me on a wagon going down canal street on gay day or whatever the day is called because that's not me, but im not afraid of who I am, and I know who I am.

I don't know many instances where I've let it known that I'm gay on this board, the mucky dream I had about chris and joe thread, granted, but they knew the score and took it with light hearted humour which I;m glad.

There's been people on here who have over stepped the mark not knowing I was gay, so If it's refering to me, I hardly see where you're coming from because some didnt' even know, so I cant exactly been advertising the fact, but if it comes up, I'm not afraid to say yes I'm gay.

If I hide the fact that I am gay, then to other people it would look like I'm making a big deal about it, because I'm trying so hard to keep it under wraps, when in reality, it's no big deal at all

i think its stupid how lots of ppl have jumped on the "shauns gay - lets slate him" bandwagon. i think more of him than alot of you coz he knows what he is and doesnt try to hide it. at times i wish i could be as confident about what i am as shaun is (and i don t mean my sexuality)

There are alot of people who are so affraid to admit what they are, and alot of people spend their life living in fear coz of what they are, shaun should be proud of what he is, and he obviously is coz he doesnt try to hide it.

shame on you if you have a problem.

    1. I never said that and I disagree with it. Far as im concerned it's down to the situation, not whether it's gay/straight man/woman man/man woman/woman, that makes the difference. In some situations its just socially unacceptable to discuss your sex life or flirt with someone and the gender or sexuality is irrevelant.

    2. I know it's witty sarcasm, that's pretty much what I said, and where did I say I found it offensive? I didnt and don't. I used the badge to make my point.

    3. But you don't broadcast your race though. You've only ever brought it up when its been relevant, like now. I didn't even know you were jewish for months, because it never came up!

Shaun didn't particularly broadcast his sexuality, it became apparent quite quickly but he didn't make a point of it. For the record, what I'm saying isn't directed at Shaun or Jamie and I'm not using them as an example, I'm talking in general terms here.

    1. We're talking about this situation and in this situation its perfectly fine for shaun to broadcast his sexuality... so this point is dismissed :d

    2. If its witty sarcasm and you have no problem with the badge why make the point?!?!?! What is your point?!?!?!?

    3. Whether I broadcast my race is irrelevant, what is relevant is that shaun was broadcast his sexuality and was griefed. He shouldn't fo been subject to that by a group of mature adults.

Shaun should be able to broadcast his sexuality without fear of of homophobic insults.

im famous for broadcasting my sexuality and no1 (except smartie :p) has a problem with that, why have a problem with shaun doing it?

im sure if a lass came on here and posted something like "im a lesbian and i love pussy" none of you would have problems with that, infact i think most the ones complainig would be the first to pm her to find out more about it!!

What I've just said, I was doing my reply beforeI saw this.

If you're asking if I'm referring to you , then no I'm not.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say, because its not a big deal it doesn't need mentioning unless it does come up, and equally it shouldn't have to be hidden when it does.

    1. no we're not talking about this situation, u might be but I'm not. I've already said i'm not talking about specifics and i'm not talking about shaun or jamie. did u miss that bit?

    2. you've missed my point completely I think. Either i'm not explaining myself properly or you're being obtuse

    3. You brought the fact of your race up!!!

    4. At least we agree on 100% on that

There are other gay people on this board who are open about their sexuality, who have never had homophobic comments directed at them. I'm not saying that Shaun deserves to have them directed at him, no-one does, but he has been antagonistic towards some board members, who retaliate. Everyone says things in the heat of the moment that they don't mean (come on, I don't believe anyone who says they haven't).

Unfortunately in this case Shaun was given grief for his sexuality, as it was the easiest target. I believe that this was a heat of the moment thing, Nass certainly has apologised (I don't know about anyone else as I don't read every post) and I believe him. Now, if everyone can tell me they haven't made really shitty insults to others (whether they hear them or not), then carry on arguing. Otherwise, accept the apology and move on.

Si your completely missing it here mate, are you sure you know what your point is, if you do please explain it in lay mans terms.

    1. This whole debate has been fueled by the shaun/jamie arguements you posted in this debate and put up jamies badge... what conclusion do u expect me and others to jump to?
2 Then explain why you posted the badge? WHAT WAS YOUR POINT!?!?!?
3 I brought up my race you then replied with I don't broadcast it - thus bringing it into the arguement - i was pointing out whether I broadcast it or not doesn't matter

BOB I think the big difference with you and kerry is:

    1. Kerry is a resident dj and anyone insulting her sexuality would result in a very probable banning.
    2. girl on girl is often thought as socially acceptable by a lot of the biggoted masses
3 unlike shaun and jamie you and kerry have an awful lot of friends so insulting you's would be commiting social suicide ;)

Agreed, but when I joined Kerry wasn't a resident. And I have taken care not to insult anyone on this board (unless it has obviously been a joke) as I don't know most people well enough to know what will hurt badly and what won't. And I think you'll find 'girl on girl' is more offensive to straight women than gay men are.

But of course, I am hugely popular so no-one would dare anyway! ;) :D
