Sunderland are in a better position now and thats what matters. No point going on about the past, its over and unless you get some trophies from the days when you were good then it means nothing at all.

Agreed, theres no taking away where we are now.

My point was aimed at the remark Lee made, saying we were already well on our way to being fucked - which we weren't?

Not really nah but you's were in debt,Although most clubs are these days.

Bobby robson should never have been sacked.

Gary Pitta> Do you think you would have been relegated if big sam and his "horrible football" stayed?

and wiv the players he had he'd have sorted out probably

this is 100% spot on. Robson being sacked is the no 1 reason we are in this mess- best manager we've had whilst i've been watching the toon- sacked 5 matches into the season after getting us into and keeping us in the top 6 with a largely young and british team- I loved keegan but in the end he couldn't hack the pressure and he was allowed to proper fuck the club up financially and abolished the youth team- its taken til the last couple of years for us to start getting some decent young players again.

Who was talking about Sunderland???Im just saying that Mike Ashley never started the problems at Newcastle, your wage bill was massive and you had alot of players who couldnt be arsed to play to there ability before he got there.I know we have always underachieved we probablys always will

They definitely wouldnt have been in such a state now had they kept big sam.Im certain of it, even though he made dodgy signings for them

You said the club was fucked before he came in - no we weren't?

The wage bill at the town has always been ridiculous, but what Club in the top flight isn't in debt these days? Every club has players that cant be arsed or underachievers:
    Ricardo Quaresma (Chelsea)
    Bullard (Hull)
    Berbatov (ManU)
    David Bentley (Spurs)
It's the nature of the beast in this day in age.

This is the 1st & only ever season we've fought a relegation battle... and lost. 16 years in (what id consider) one of the worlds toughest football leagues isn't bad going in the scheme of things...

(and before Pike dips in here, yes my pasty is still soaking )
