excuse me, up my own arse, becuase i come from northern ireland you see me as some sort or native that should be suppressed, and that the government is all knowing and that we the natives haven't got a clue and should just carry on in ignorant bliss, wise up.

"I am studying Politics for my degree and have done an awful lot about the IRA, including their history and ideology" then you are a fucking expert aren't you, people like you make me sick, its just another subject for you people, so you can talk about ideologies and theories to make yourself look intelligent, what was your purpose in talking about this subject on a public night club forum then other than to show off that you think you know about northern ireland from what you have read in text books.

as for original aims, the IRA's original aim was to get the british out of ireland by force, nothing more, anything de valera wanted for ireland as to regards ireland as a utopean agricultural state was not shared by the IRA army council. As for the Ira of the 70s, it was a military response to the british military's heavy handed tactics in northern ireland.

personal issues, don't presume to know anything about me.......

and we all know about the northern irish assembly:rolleyes:

as for the euro, i think you will find you commented about it being " legal" in some parts of belfast, which i have explained.

John has told me that he has worked in belfast, and has said there are some things he doesn't understand, but you, you presume to know everything, more than one of us natives ( are you racist towards the irish? thats what comes across )

and i have not gained my knowledge from " reading it in the papers" for living in northern ireland funnilly enough gave me some insight into whats going on, and an 'expert' in the IRA , even at degree level cannot again over several years what is aquired by living there.

"Maybe if you took the time to learn about your own country you wouldnt look like such a fool"
what a pompus and rediculous remark to make, you arrogant twat, just who do you think you are, john has the wisdom to understand when things could be offensive, and quite frankly i find you offensive

understand this, do not presume to talk down to me, you may be able to learn certain things from a book, but you are the bigger fool, people live in northern ireland, its not just another case study, so think before publicly spouting off to show off your newly aquired ' knowledge'

Right, first off i didnt come on here to enter a discussion on the situation in NI, i mentioned to john that id like to pick his brains about it and we started to talk about it.

In my post i was trying to explain to you that youd just got up there on your high horse and decided you knew what i meant, when you didnt.

No one thinks its 'Just another case to study' and im genuinely interested in it other wise i wouldnt be studying it. and if i was spouting newly aquired knowlage to show off id do it somewhere else wouldnt I.

as for talking down to you, im not the one who came up all of a sudden with massive letters anouncing what 'total pish' -as you put it - people you didnt know were talking.
strangely enough i find most of your comments offensive and may have thought differently of you if you hadnt have written what you did.

Again the term 'legal tender' was used that means people accept it. any way, i wouldnt know about that, thats why i didnt mention it but asked about it.

Fom your post it didnt look like you knew what you were on about. you either missunderstood or missinterpreted alot of what was said. Ive tried to explain but if you still dont get what was meant then im sorry.

End of the day no offence was meant by the original posts but if you are offended by this or the previous one then to be completly honest i couldnt care.

maybe you should take your own advice and not presume to know people you so obviously dont.

I noticed someone had posted a recent post on this thread and thought "Oooh Kilroy I'll read about that"....but no...it's two people arguing about Northern Ireland and the IRA.

Please don't kill me for not knowing anything about them...but as far as I know....Northern Ireland isn't part of Ireland and is part of the UK. Erm...people from Ireland are "Irish"....and...erm...the IRA are a load of people who say "Yes we'll hand our guns in" then somehow a few years later they say it again and all I wonder is "where the hell did they get them from if they handed them all in?? :spangled: "

I think we needed a bit of an idiot post in here...I was revising 10mins ago to come onto a Promise message board to read more about "intelligent" stuff. :D

    Anyway....carry on arguing.....

(As I said...dont kill me....and don't take this post as serious, I honestly know VERY LITTLE about the situation over there...what I do know I hear from that guy (or woman) who tells me each evening at about 6pm on BBC1)

    i have never presumed anything

and i understand exactly what you are talking about

and i wrote my statement in response, rather passionately i admit, but i make no appologies about that, to what was an incomplete and and steriotypical insight into northern irish affairs

lets agree to disagree as we both obviously have little respect for each others views on the subject.

Awww it's beautiful! Hey...it's a thin line between love and hate!

    What I see is this:

Guy 1: Ireland this, Ireland that, Euros, IRA, NI Assembly

    Guy 2: Pish, all wrong!

Guy 1: No you read it wrong

    Guy 2: No I didn't

    Guy 1: Yes you did

FFS! LOL! Why don't you just go over it, if guy 1 is doing something for Uni then getting info from a Primary Resource (guy 2) is great! (You can even put in the bibliography "I interviewed some irish dude who has lived in Ireland/Northern Ireland for ages about his views and insights" - wow! good stuff!)

Oh and I don't know if what you were saying about the Euro being accepted is the same as this but like, the Euro isn't exactly "legal tender" in England but some places (eg. Asda - not just little newsagents, etc.) accepts it as payments, so maybe that's what guy 1 was referring to. :)

    Starring:

    xPx as Guy 1
    johntystar as Guy 2
