I suggest you actually do little research on islam as you clearly know fuck all about the religion!!! Oppressers of women?!?!?!? THey're extremely protective of women, there is a huge cultural difference and the man/woman relationship is very different to or western relationship- but to brand this as oppresssion strikes me as very ignorant.

Yes in extreme cases (taliban for example) women have been oppressed and degraded - but to brand the entire arab race as acid throwing, women stoning towel heads is unbelievably ignroant.

Where in the title does it say a handful of arabs are suicide bombers? It doesn't it says "arabs".... and to brand all arabs as suicide bombers is again incredibaly ignorant.

i was being an arse joe, looking at the words spence picked out for the thread title... i made it quite clear (as if it isnt obvious enough to anyone with a brain) that the vast majority of the arab is not innvolved in any of these activities.. but unfortunatley they do go on and are accepted in parts of the arab world, to deny this is unbelivabley naive.

as for knowing very little about the religion.. i am actually pretty well informed on the religion - smoggle/martin is writing his 10k word dissertation on the predjudiced views towards the islamic world from this region, who leant him his reading material on the background to islam? me.. now give me a gold star...

also i have a group of close friends who live in dohar and have heard their first hand experience of arabic opression of women..

you are correct that the islamic man-woman relationship is very different from ours.. does this excuse some of the practices that take place?

Hmmm, not sure about that. Tom definately wasn't branding the entire arab race as terrorists etc, but its true they did bomb the wtc.

They are oppresive towards women... fact. I had family and friends out there until a few years ago and the things they would say about arab men were shocking, cases of rape and paedophilia are extremely common, and thats in the traditionally more western friendly states like the UAE and qatar, what about countries like lebanon, iran and syria. My dad worked in the emirates for many years and experienced a lot of double standards. That is not to say it is uniform, of course not, but what is the only EMDC in the whole of the middle east? Israel, a jewish state.

Also, name another 'race of people' (for want of a better term) that continues to use suicide bombing to an extent anywhere near the extreme muslims? The japanese grew out of it long ago.

Arabs are not a bad race, far from it, but there are serious flaws in their governments, media and culture that continues to throw out extreme fundamentalist views.

There is also a friend of my family in the Israeli army on national service... im sure he is having a great time doing his job.

The rape and paedophillia is a fact, my dad met sheikhs who had young boys and girls pretty much as slaves. My friend cathy lived in the uae to and saw, on more than one occasion, women being beaten and raped with no one ableto stop it. Before I get pounced upon, i will stress that it is not at all uniform to arabs, but it is a practice that is permitted to some extent. The sheikhs have money, and therefore power to avoid the law. In fact they are the law as religeous rulers.

I know kamikaze was different, but it was a common practice towards the end of WW2 and its scale is the only example I could think of to relate to modern day suicide bombers. There are not many people who are prepared to blow them selves up for a cause (right or wrong), but the ones that are seem to be muslim fundamentalists.

Again, I don't completely buy the whole 'america oil conspiracy' but of course it is a factor. This is oil were talking about, without oil we would have to revolutionise transport, chemical industry, plastics etc etc. Jews are traditionally associated with money, and there is no denying that they are good at accumulating and speculating, thats why they are so powerful in the US. I can't see anything wrong with that, 6 million die through genocide, arent you going to take steps to make sure it wouldnt happen to you again?

kamikazee was different because of the absoloute fear and promise of certain death from the demonised americans that was instilled into the soldiers by the leader of the japanese forces.. this absoloute fear of the americans was the driving force - they felt they had to destroy the enemy at all costs or they would be destroyed - hence mass suicides by the japanese public when the emperor surrendered to the US...

as for the jewish thing- you know i dont agree with israel... or more specifically its foundation.
