The difference between a mix recorded in a club and a mix cd is that mixes recorded in a club dont cost anything, whereas a mix cd / album has cost the label a lot of money (dj fee, artwork, pressing, distribution, licensing, promotion) and they need to rely on sales of that album to recoup the costs. For every one that is illegally downloaded that's one less to recoup the costs and so on. If everybody illegally downloaded mix cd's / albums then eventually there wouldnt be any coz there'd be no way to make the money back.

Simple as.

artwork, pressing, distribution and licensing don't effect online sales... its unfair of you to use these in your equation.

I think the music industry is massively over paid... why should elton john £30 on shopping in 2 years while thousands of superior musicians struggle to pay for their electricity?
