I'd definately have to agree with you there, you seem to like your techno too!!!!

It's definately the most forward thinking, and it doesn't age like other genres do. Tunes like "The Bells", The Red series etc still sound as good today as the day they were first cut.

If you're into techno and have something to contribute to the scene - check my website (link below), if you want to submit any articles to the techno in the toon section which is still in construction, just contact me via the website. There will be local techno DJ profiles held there so if you think you should feature, get in touch.

What's this pots and pans shit?:monkey:

I like the "new" techno stuff - Fergie, Marco V, Mistress Barbara etc. That sort of stuff, prefer the tougher side of things, other stuff can sound weird at times and it can get boring.

On a labels side....Recycled Loops is probably one of my favourite techno labels, thats the kind of style I like, nice and tough.

Not seen Dave Clarke or Hawtin live, but listened to their sets, Clarke is amazing!!

Theres looads of variations of Techno so it's not really fair to say that Fergie etc. don't play Techno, they do, just a different variation to what the purists insist on.

    That's my two pence anyway....

Seen it before mate nice site.

My influences tend to be Bailey, Liebing, Picotto, Kanzyani....hard driving rocking techno!! :D

For "Hairy" this pots and pans stuff as far as I can tell is what the hardhouse / hardtrance lot call techno because they think the new style of techno sounds like banging on pots and pans which you used to do when you were about 2 with a wooden spoon.

I could be wrong like so if any one wants to elaborate further and define "pots and pans"

IMO some of the music passed off as techno does sound like people banging on pots and pans.

Who needs labels tho, its all music FFS. just enjoi!

you love stereotyping and generalising about us 'lot' and always bringing up the 'down with capitalism' ideas of "it's all about the music man"

don't group us all together melt
  11. Guest

    where is the generalising?

it is all music it dont need labels

and who is this melt character you banging on about.

I suggest you get back to listening to maiden records or your IT lab rat.

You must be taking bobbys sacking badly, wallsend lads are born and bred toon fans.

Never mind spence will be back soon to wipe away your tears

The Detroit stuff is what many argue to techno.....most of the banging stuff sounds like hard house to me.

    MAN OF SCIENCE

the wire is the producer of the vid nothing more nothing less

I am only quoting what people have told me pots and pans means.

There is definately something in that relooping stuff which a lot of people dont class as techno.

Its interesting to see that a lot of the younger bods see Picotto as techno which us wrinklies would kind of see as hard trance

People latch on to whatever mixmag mostly is telling them is trendy at the time. A few years ago it was hardhouse bosh bosh bosh, then it was the old skool revival , then it was trance again,
then techno, and now surpirse surprise they going to try and build up the psy trance sound and then knock it down.

They need labels to sell their magazine and the masses follow like sheep.

If you had played late 80'sJuan atkins and Derick may to some people a few years ago they would laugh at you and now they are all acting like its the best thing since sliced bread and they are well into it.

Music is music (according to Primal Scream - come together '91)
