nah he just went off the rails and now spends about 4 hours a day at the gym. he went a proper odd shape anyway - that much steriods, plus the complete lack of nutrition had a bizarre effect. it seemed like the skin on his head grew? and went what i can only describe as 'foldy'

however he's a big cunt - and wouldent say it to his face either

imo when cutting you should simply alter your diet and up the cardio, keeping your weight training routine the same

best time for cardio id say is fasted steady state - when u wake up before eating, no more intense than about 60% of yr vo2 max... thats a light jog/fast walk.. any more and you risk turning catabolic. a strong black coffee beforehand can help as well.

Good post! That's exactly what I try to do. However I am not so good at getting it right. I will have lost some mass in my cut, but no matter, will be nice and lean by the end of the year and then start smashing in the chicken and ric again!!

What sort of weights do you lot shift anyway? My strength is reasonable, nothing spectacular. PB's are 100k bench, 70k Military, 150k deadlift

Then again it's almost at my 2 year mark and i wasn't even doing half that back then...was about 75kilos when i started with a bit of a gut and zero muscle, back in March I was at a fairly lean 88 and now i'm about 83. I'm happy with that anyway, especially since work gets in the way alot :(

You always feel a bit flat after a cut, and you always suffer slight strength losses but lower bf % will make you look "bigger" anyways

Ive been out of the gym for a while now Im starting again this wk, going to start off with a basic routine until i get some good strength back

wot you doin? 3 day split for me

    mon
    deadlifts
    bentover rows
    db hammer curls
    barbell curl

    wed
    bench
    incline flyes
    arnold press
    skullcrushers or tri rope

    fri
    squats
    straight leg deads
    leg ext
    calf raises
    abs

    love it

I just go running 3/4 sometimes 5 times a week, anything up to 4 miles per run.

i wouldnt say at the moment i am losing weight or owt but i felt when i was going to the gym i wasnt getting anywhere - not that i wanna be massive or owt like that cos i just wanna get fitter.

I will carry this on anyways cos dont mind it at all and change my routes all the time.

That's a nice routine like. Very similar to what I was doing for a long time but I did it as a 4 day split.

At the mo im doing chest and back (bench press, pull ups, dumbell press, bent over rows) twice a week and shoulders and legs (military press, deadlift, dumbell press, hamstring curls) twice a week, pretty short weights sessions and then doing cardio. But the regularity of training each bodypart twice a week will put me in better steed to retain mass.

Im slowly getting used to the logic of not being flat out in cardio which will help too.

I did a MINT shoulder routine from "optimised volume training" earlier in the year, really made such a difference:

I was loving it back then, every time I went out my mates kept giving me the "you're on roids" chat

I wish I had the drive to go for runs :(

ive heard about this volume training i might give it a go sometime

im in two minds about training muscle groups twice a week like... rest and recovery is key to muscle growth so i prefer to kill a muscle group off once and week and let resting & diet do the rest of the work

Well, if you train more than once a week then you do less volume, but more frequency.

As you will be aware, you don't have to hammer muscle to a pulp to stimulate growth. A regular traininer is going to be fairly well recovered after 48 hours like

    You could do:

    Chest/Back
    Legs/Shoulders
    Rest Day/Cardio/Abs/Whatever
    Chest/Back
    Shoulders/Legs
    Rest Day/Cardio/Abs/Whatever
    repeat

Nickys got a brilliant routine, gym 3/4 times a week swiftly followed by Indians or Chinese straight afterwards, on weekends you can seem him frequent between either Santana's or Scalini's washed down with (quote last weekend) a full bottle of Baileys.
Some say their body's are like Temples, Nickys is like Flamingo Land.

Hows things anyways, aint seen you in a while, you still going to water Aerobics with Marky? ;):D

That sounds like mine tbf, saturdays normally consist of an early morning run followed by 12 pints, a cheeseburger and a mince pie at the match, washed down by fish and chips on the way home and 4 cans.

With the run and the salad on the cheeseburger i think ive got the balance pretty spot on
