I don't believe in socialism/communism either, mint in theory, but they can't work in practice - not whilst people still act human and abuse their power.

This current system could work a lot better, but companies and people should act a lot more socially responsible - people before profits. The world will be turned to shit before that ever happens though, but here's hoping... :(

Whether or not prices have stabilised is irrelevant - the fact is that if you want to buy a house in newcastle TODAY, theres a good chance that the same house cost up to 1/5 of the price only 7 or 8 years ago.

Even if the price had only doubled in that period... is massive inflation which doesnt match a rise in earnings over the same period - HENCE, we are worse off.

Having to pay double the rent or mortgage to put a roof over your head aint a nice situation to be in.

and dont get me started on council tax.

I disagree they can work untill they are surrounded by capitalism.

Communal tribes have existed in the amazon for centuries - it is only in recent years when they have becomel surrounded by capitlism and its cultural/technological/idealogical advances that cracks are appearing... upon their introduction to western capitalism they all look doomed.

Do away with capitalism and we can all lead full lives :D

That's what I was getting at, if people weren't filled with greed (which capitalism perpetuates in abundance) then it could work, but not in the forseeable future. Maybe if we're not extinct by 2500 it might change then...

@Dodgy, MoS, etc. (can't be arsed to go back a few pages just to click "Quote" lol)

Yeah I agree with that, I was more going along the lines of not liking people who go "Oh I can't be arsed to walk up the street/send a letter/click a few buttons online" so they don't vote.

But then....surely there are so many parties out there that there IS a party which is what you support? Whether Labour, Conservative, Lib Dems, Green, BNP (why oh why you would vote them?)....OK don't know anymore, but surely there is SOME party in the UK who has the ideal manifesto for you.

Yeah OK, so they aren't going to win now, or even in the next 20 years....but if you vote for them and campaign for them, other people may listen and it'll send a message to others if this teeny party starts to gain power.

I wouldn't be surprised if in 100 years the Green Party were in power. Though by then we'll be part of the EU.....good times :D (no sarcasm intended!)

    :)

The DfES and independent reports on the validity of their results.... but if you don't believe me check:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/3328913.stm

For a dumbed down summary ;)

Violent crime is hardly a product of New Labour... The rise in violent crime in the UK correlates with a rise across Europe (there are exceptions), countries like Italy (were up 37%), the Netherlands (34%) and France (31%) this steep rise occurred around the same time across Euroland... Too suggest this is a product of New Labour or even England is a tad far fetched... What would make for a more compelling debate are the strategies of NL rivals.

As for identity fraud this is very much a cultural issue as its a product of a cashless society that didn’t exist 20 years ago, the advent of an infinite source of credit cards coupled with anonymous shopping environments have spawned a predictable but hard to combat problem.

Blaming New Labour is a tad silly.

Well if we're making it personal (which is a tad strange when dealing with a national issue) I saw the multi-million development of two hospitals; Bishop Auckland and Durham were both rebuilt under the New Labour administration.

I'm guessing you don't know many single mothers, I know a few and none of them are dole scroungers - they were left with no choice and subsequently lead very hard lives, the fact you consider welfare a bad thing speaks volumes about the validity of your logic - your vision is no less tinctured than that of Harpers :D

I quit sixth form so never made it to uni smart arse… I run a small web design studio (http://www.plus13.com) not that it has any impact on strength of my argument... only an idiot assumes – try not to make too many assumptions son :D

There isn't, I don't believe in this system of governance, and I don't agree with any Party's policies.

This thread is getting well heavy - you're all fascists. There, I've said it. :p

Then if you're a supporter of child benefits what were you trying to infer by oppsoing such a notion. You've confused me.

The bit where you say I am in favour of child support when its not collected by dole scroungers, but opposed to an increased and fair child benefit.

but how do you differentiate... by oppsoing NL's improved benefits you're in favour of depriving those in need.

what if a parent with 1 daughter has twins, a woman is raped, a boyfriend runs off leaving an unsupported family, etc.

your logic is childish, ignorant and ill concieved... I'll exchange words with you when you can present a coherrent and well thought through arguement :D
