it pisses me off big guy, knowing that if this trance night isn't gonna get marco v, van dyk etc etc alot of people posting in this thread won't show. These ppl tend to be the one's who have jumped on the trance 'bandwagon' after visiting promise once or twice before it closed!

    grrrrr

I think it says a lot about trance and hard house over the last few years to be honest, if the more hardcore element won't turn up to names constantly touted as 'the future' or whatever, whats the chances of the fair weather trancers turning up?

trance is like prog rock in the way it served a purpose for a period of time, a few big names linger on but it isn't a versatile genre and so has no real future.. coming back to the 'cool' point, the reason why most people went off trance was for the same reason, we got bored of the same old sound getting churned out over and over again while the new stuff was dire, the drugs got tiresome and as such the quality of the crowd went down.. moreso I grew out of it I think? nothing to do with other peoples perception of what music I listened to or how I dress or what I drink, I got bored shitless of it, is that so hard to grasp?

yes that is true, but if thats the case why "dj tiesto" put ion airy, light shit 60% of the time. its more than when and wot u put on, its about gettin the crowd goin

people obviously like him or he wouldnt be the most famous dj in the world

how can it be more than 'when and what you put on'?

    Definitely

You know a type of music has lost its appeal when the crowd talk more about how 'mental the dj was going' rather than the awesome tracks he was playing (as has been proven on this board in the past)

for example: i have whent ballistic in clubs to records i fukin hate, because of the atmosphere and the dj working the crowd.
im not denying tiesto is a top quality dj, but he could be so much better. i think his music has got him famous, as well as all of the promotion about him.

i ain't bored of it. maybe thats just your opinion on trance and how your music tastes have evolved. The 5 second attention span clubber has moved onto something different. There IS still people who love it, love the music, love the DJs who WILL turn out - just there's not many of them left - But there IS still a market for these people.

the days of the superclubs are gone - because the people who were drawn to that type of event went purely because it's was the the place to go and the popular type of music around

i think it will be back

i.e. they have played the right record at the right time, hence why the crowd are loving it :)

Not as it was in it's hey day of 97-2001... it'll grow popular again, like house did after it's rise and fall from 92-96 with the ministry of sound and renasisance... it'll be around

How about a small trance/prog night that isnt obsessed with booking big name DJ's, and instead has enthusiastic and more importantly INTELLIGENT dj's that dont play a re-arranged version of this weeks ASOT tracklist.

'Peak Time' trance is not going to work anymore - in fact, maybe the future of trance is to ditch the word trance altogether ........ i think it just puts alot of people off these days.

Having said that, i love trance still - even if i dont go clubbing to it much these days. It just needs a serious rethink for someone to tackle it at the small numbers end of the market.

rather than have a trance night, why not just put on a night of good music in general , wether it be trance/prog/techno whatever

I would love to go to a night where I never knew what track was going to come next

and then eh!!!! yeah eddie might not be to all your tastes but the lad has worked his arse off to get where he is, im sorry yes there are DJ's out there who can scratch better but this lad has got what 98% off dj's out there would give their most prized vinyl for and thats precence! he get's on a stage and entertains and well, no matter where in the world he plays he commands and control's the crowd like no other and no one can deny it cos if he didn't he'd still be playing the howard and fuckin house party's not travelin the world with a pioneer sponsorship deal under his belt!!!!! brid you need to get over your self and stop hating DJ's just cos they've made it son ! :)

Definately.... Somewhere where you can take the missus to again, we need the days back where you could dress up a bit to go out somewhere 'cool', instead of deliberately picking the jeans you wouldnt mind getting covered with random black 'club tar' stains.

it will never be as big as it was but i think it will be back, i mean im only 18 so i wasnt around then anyway but from wot ive seen and heard it looked massive

Thats what i hate, i've stopped downloading recent mixes from some DJs and even new DJs - cause when u hear it and see the tracklist - they're all the same - the most recent upfront tunes... and it's always the stuff you're expect to hear at peak time... mixing skills second to none.

i don't want 20 differenty DJs with the same sound - i want 20 different DJs with their own take on trance
