Yes but practicing/rehearsing a set doesnt make you a good dj whether its just working out what tracks your going to play cos they go together. Any music industry guru will tell you that you can tell if someone has practiced their set....thats not what people want, they want you to be able to walk into a club and play it out and make it personal to the crowd.

However researching tracks and stuff that just goes with the job and falls into another category all together....it's not practicing

a good dj is so much more than just playing what they consider to be cool and boring you to sleep with the latest minimalistic shite eltro fantastic garbage

its about them playing music that makes you want to dance, not just boshing the latest anthems, its about them having killer productions and looking as if they are lving what they ared oing behind the decks

i go out a fucking lot and see a lot of local djs

imo theres far too many of the local trance ones do not know how to tailor their set to the time they are on

if they are on early they bosh it out and if they are on later they bosh it out even more

then youve got a little clique who fair enough have had one or two half decent gigs on aline up with names and they think they are going to be the next paul van dyk or jon obir and walk around with attitude ...thats bollocks too

then youve got probbaly the more talented local djs who are merely nothing more than accomlished bedroom mixers who winge on that they never get any gigs cos the toon is
    full of cliques

well i say to you lot get out and go to the gigsyou want to play, go to all the events, meet the promoters wave your cds in the promoters faces

dont just go to the odd night here and there and sit at home keyboard warrioring loading mixes on here, no matter how good you are it aint going to happen for you that way

and finally no dj who ever made it massive ever did so and stayed there by practising their entire sets

Like i say, good dj's dont need to practice......the shit dj's on the circuit are mostly only there cos they "know people" FACT.

Practicing is beginners shit, beat matching etc....but if your a good dj you know all this and therefore all you have to do is research

I stand by my original arguement whole heartedly.......:)
