If your not going to justify your opinions don't bother posting... this post was put up to fuel debate and get peoples opinions... if I wanted statistics I'd of made it a poll

I think if we had a more thorough system a few would maybe consider it but the vast majority would still try..... But I agree on the one thing we do need to tighten the harness to filter out the bogus ones.

I mean fair play ur entitled to your opinions, and im entitled to mine... Alot of mine is what i ve seen... from begging in the tubes to takin a ferry from France to Dover, and seeing a large section of a lounge cornered off, full of people id guess are refugees, they definately werent on a bouze cruise. My local papers are full of stories of asylum seekers. These are free local papers, not full of cutting edge or partly fabricated stories.

ps i have at no point said that all asylum seekers are bogus. Im just trying to show you Joe, that they not all as clean cut as u imply.

I'd say there are very few unbiased documents in print as every1 has an opinion.

some of the people trying to get into this country are genuinly in need of help and it's our moral duty to help others in need when they are unable to help themselves. This doesn't just apply to just white, or british people, I mean anyone. We as individuals have that same responsibility as the government

We had the same arguments in the 50's from people objecting to black and asian immigrants to the UK. I believe these immigrants have culturally enhanced the UK

The large number of asylum seekers is a sympton of a greater problem. Stopping asylum seekers won't solve the problem

The Great American dream can come true for ethnic minorities in the US. Seems to be a lot easier if you're beautiful/talented

On asylum seekers, if they need help, we should help them. If they don't we shouldn't. I have no idea what system could be used to achieve this

I think that our western view of civilisitaion is fucked beyond belief.

Like it or not, the rest of the western world will follow the US down the path it is on (not just war with Iraq) until we are all fukked.

It won't be a bad thing if the almost unavoidable war with Irag goes bad and we end up with an armageddon

I'm gutted i've missed most of this thread already, but I'm square with Joe on this one!

It's too easy just to bleat on about the minority/majority/whatever spongers. A lot of these people face terrible persecution from which they are fleeing for their very lives. As Joe's said as fellow human beings with the capacity to help we must do.

A friend fo our family watched (dih under a bed) as givernment soldiers raped her mother then then murdered her family in front of her eyes as she hid under a bed fearing for her life... she fled the country and was granted asylum here.... If she returns to hber motherland she'll be shot.
