I would have gone to see Sister Bliss, but not at Arcane. Bugger. Haven't seen her play since Nov 96!

The point I was trying to make about free events is that it cant be done regularly otherwise it would be already. Yes, free events would attract people (me included cos I cant afford to go out much anymore) but the liklihood of it happening, especially round these parts, is very slim.

They are only my opinions, I havent heard anyone complaining that they cant go to Promise cos of the entry fee. When people say they cant afford to go out its cos they have no money to go out full stop, not because the entry is too steep (this is based on people I know and go out with.)

I'm not coming up with strategies cos Im a clubber, not a promoter. Im not an expert. Alot of the promoters dont know and even do anything about it, so why would I know what the hells going on? If I did then Id be doing a different job

Totally agree with you on all of that. Sorry to attack you in that manner. Will edit post. I can accept opinions, I just felt that you took it a bit further. ;)

But Normski did make a lot of cash off this event with DVD/Video/CD sales and a tv station paid to cover the event.

Yes, this is also a good example of how he funded the event.

I said that. I said he "also" would have funded it this way. Obviously the CD/DVD came later, but the TV station money may not have.

How many free parties could you throw and persuade, oh, lets say, PVD or Oakenfold to play for nothing?

How much money do you think Promise, or any other club could get from their local council. Picture the scene…

Promise: ‘We wish to have access to a 100 thousand pounds, every month, to run free parties. Oh, can you sort out the Police, Ambulance, traffic and logistical support as well’

Council: ‘Here is a large sack of cash, we hope everyone benefits from our altruistic ideology and forgets how much we cocked up the Love Parade. Viva 2008, European City of Football, erm, we mean Culture.’

Clubbers: ‘Let us give thanks to our benefactors on bended knee, hip hip, hoorah!’

I'm sorry, but you need to live in the real world.

Think people are going a bit over the top. Shindig is nearly full every week yet still plays undeground music. Shows that it can be done

He made a fortune from this, it was the biggest free PR exercise in DJ history. Well Free for Norman, but not the sponsors.

Lee, I think you've read into the post too much. I never once stated that this should be every week. I know fine well that would be asking the impossible. My point was that funding can be obtained and if used properly, help the situation. No need for the sarcasm mate! You're probably more mature than that. I do understand how funding works.

I feel like I'm bashing my head off a brick wall here. Again! I've never said he didn't make money from it because he obviously did. The original point was that it was a free event for people to go too, and it was successful. Horay!!!!

I don't get why you keep replying talking about the money he made from it!?

    Where...

    Terry, you misinterpret my humor.

Where do you get funding from then, as I for one, would love to know.

    Lee ;)
