It's too late to stop people owning guns in america for the next few generations at least. The only way it would work is if everyone willingly surrendered their guns. Only 'good' citizens would do this though and the criminals would keep hold of them. Obviously, the good citizen doesn't want the criminals stealing their sausages from the oven so they're gonna keep hold of their guns too.
