The exception is dance clubs ........ they are some of the best crowds in the country i reckon.

Some of the more high profile nights draw in alot more foreigners so theres a bit less banter, but on the quieter less rammed nights ive never failed to speak to loads of people all up for a good time and there for the club and the music.

You must go to some boring-ass places Brid. Fair enough with the tube, but that places is so generally depressing you wouldn't want to talk to any other passengers anyway.

I moved to London a year ago and think it's just as friendly as Newcastle. All friends i've had down here to visit have said the same.

Another thing i've noticed down here, is that the only people who mention the north/south divide, or even think there is one, is the Northeners.

There are differences though, and there IS a divide of sorts - theres nothing wrong with pointin that out eh.

Im not sure about the northerners being the only ones mentioning the 'divide' ..... In fact im surprised at how many southern bred people have this irrational fear or distaste of anything or anyone north of Milton Keynes, thinking its like a cross between beirut and royston vasey.

It's true. I was playing pictionary with my lasses family a couple of years ago. Her mother drew a picture of Britain and cut it off just above London and started pointing below the line. Of course, I starting shouting, "The south!, London!, Kent!, Surrey!". Turned out the answer was England! She said the north doesn't count!

I saw the funny side. But I always make a point of reminding her. I'll not tell you where she thought Geordies are from!

But I will tell you my lass didn't know the Scottish had their own bank notes until 2/3 years ago! She thought I was taking the piss when I tried to give her £10!

your lass sound like a right div

just because one div doesnt know that Scotland has its own bank notes doesnt meant that the whole of the south does

    you're generalising far too much

I was born in Surrey:) Moved away when i was 8 but still have family down that neck of the woods!

Totally depends where you are cos it is Massive and so different from one Town/City to the other.

I personally prefer it up North but that was probably influence by my Uni life up here. Sure i'd feel the same about anywhere:lol:

You're taking this thread too serious mate. I was just telling a story. Not generalising.
