The thing is, there are big clubs internationally who will pay the asking prices. Hence, if your clubs doesn't pay the price for our DJ , we can take him elsewhere. People like Carl Cox, Sasha and Paul Oakenfold all fall into these categories. Despite a big turn-out on Sat and a pricer door tax, Shindig won't have made much more than they usually do, if anything at all.

Cream reportedly paid 10 grand for two hours from Oakey recently - belived whole heartedly to be a 'bargin'

comparing promise to crasher isnt a bad thing though...in a way its flattering that promise gets compared to the superclubs like godskitchen and crasher...as promise is only young, so to be compared to older clubs that are/have been successfull is good...in my opinion anyways

Exactly, how the fuck can they sleep at night when they're earning over and above, in one single night, what many of the people who come to see them can earn in a year.

I'm all for a bit of capitalism, but that just makes me fuckin sick.

Initially yes, but ultimately you're suggesting that others are better which isn't the case. You should look at Promise in it's own terms! ;)

its always gonna be compared to other clubs like it though, such as crasher and Gods when the line ups are similar...promise has both matt and eddie as ressi's....same as crasher

i do see promise in its own terms, but while its still in its infancy, i think its always gunna be compared with older clubs...not neccessarly better clubs though

even tho promise and crasher r quite different u cant stop people comparing them as the dj's that r on at promise mostly also play at crasher and do attract similar crowds!!!

i have had amazing nights at both clubs and love them both but 4 different reasons!! by comparing them people will not necessarily be putting down promise!! they r on different nights and so r not in direct competition and 2getha me thinks makes a lovely wkend!! :):) constructive critisism is a good thing anyway and can only make promise stronger!!!

i agree that the big events r not all they r cracked up 2 be.. but its a way that alot of people who dont normally go clubbing may be introduced to the scene and how can that be a bad thing?? you cant have the same crowd 4eva!!!!

ps dj prices ARE far 2 high..but we all pay the dosh 2 go see them tho so we cant complain that much!!!

as for comparing promise with crasher i dont see it as a bad thing....all similar type clubs get compared with each other.

surely the fact that people are comparing promise to the super club is positive. only been to crasher a few times but i think its absolutly w!cked

Its human nature to compare, be it boob size or club quality. Gatecrasher dominated british clubbing for 5 years and is slowely falling off, just as cream and MoS did before it. As Crasher dominated and was seen by many as britains best club - people look up to it.

People who come to Promise are amazed with how good it is and the only comparisson they can make is with clubs like Crasher, this isn't bad or good - its just a comparisson. It shouldn't be taken as a compliment or an insult - its just people trying to put across what they think of Promise.

Promise wont stay like it is now forever, hopefully it will improve. Growing in size isn't the death of a club, look at Sundissential - they're like a fucking franchise opening events all over the country - yet most people think it is steadily improving. Clubs like shindig have been running for 10 years and seem to improve every year, clubs like twilo have been running from the beginning of time and are still seen as amazing.

I think where clubs like cream and crasher fell over was as fashions changed so did they neglecting there crowds and what the club was about... When crasher banned cyber it was an almost suicidal moce - you can't determine what the market likes you can only follow it...

As promise grows (which in my eyes it will, as word of mouth is the best form of advertising), I think it wont lose its magic - the same people will still go, just there'll be more of us - when crasher first moved to the republic is was always rammed and always a really special atmosphere. Why on earth would promise change?

I think comparing promise to crasher is a huge compliment as although they are two completely different nights - crasher was seen as britains best club for years - and now people are comparing Promise with a club of that level :D

    Its all good :D

When Crasher banned cybers it was the only option they had! They had a huge problem with drugs, and were in danger of becoming the next Hacienda.

Fair enough the Hacienda was probably the best club ever but no one went to the bar, they went to the dealer so the club makes no money. If crasher didn't do something they would be dead and burried by now.

I know it's stereotyping cybers saying there all druggies but to be fair they do have a reputation.

    WHAT?!?!?!?!?

Crasher never banned cybers cos of drug taking?!?!?! Crasher was stereo typed as a cyber only club, for some unknown reason the management had some fucked up idea that cyber wasn't cool and that they needed to change their image - they introduced progressive music and made a much stricter dress code (basically fuck off all cybers).

This was utter madness they had 2000 people waking up on monday and thinking fo nothing but making their next neon outfit and going out on saturday... thats dedication to a club - they were the first and probably the last club to ever have this level of loyalty.

But they felt times were changing and tried to influence all the crasher kids into listening to prog instead of trance and dressing trendy instead of cyber... it backfired in their face and they went through a very low patch they learnt that you can't determine what the market wants you can only cater for what they wants.

Crasher learnt the hard way - they never regained that magic and are slowely letting it slip away (opening on a monthly basis may be the most astute move they've made)

It had fuck all to do with drug taking.
