Nobody in their right mind would give up a venue on a weekend for trance

haha as if Shindig or Wax on are gonna want twisted logic in the back room instead of Erol Alkan.

    Yeah nice one.

they wouldnt do it! nobody wants to associate themselves with Trance anymore.

and World HQ is never free. It amazes me how easy people think running a night is.

    Brid makes some good points.

With regard to venues, Other Rooms/Digital is all tied up now.

WHQ is a no go Friday/Saturday.

WHQ midweek monthly is the only feasible option I can see for a good sized venue/night. You would need to check that Anthony would be sound with a 'trance' night though. Dont see why not though.

I believe it is bookable, but from my knowledge it is pretty pricey.

    Maybe too big?

if that place is what people think is all we need - then the scene is in a worse state than i ever thought

Something small with a loyal following - that the peeps of this board can provdie - local talent with unusual/different DJs - like Mark as said - No more DJ lead nights - this town has proven, for trance anyway, it can't support large DJ lead nights... there's not a strong enough market here. Get it known for it's MUSIC style instead of concentrating on "whos on in the next month" type attitudes. I've never said it would be easy or there's loads of venues out there - i have no experience of this - i'm just saying what i feel could bring trance in some form or another back to newcastle - because there is a gap - no doubts. If gash-house-kRaZy-electro-funk shite has a market - so has this!

Then, take it from there. Who says it has to go immediately into 'the other rooms' or 'WHQ' - even the established nights have trouble filling them.

Harking back to Mono - i thought this place was spot in... needed a bit of a wash like ... but still - decent size...

i don't wanna be a promoter, or run a successful night and get the "big 3" to newcastle - i just wanna go out on the occasional weekend, bounce around to some music i like, enjoy the atmosphere, whitey and go home

spot on MOS. a small intimate club would be much better than a big space that would struggle to ever be filled. a full small venue with a good crowd will create a crackin atmosphere and that's gota be onea the main things in starting something like this surely? never been to mono but off what i've heard it might be ideal

    Legends would maybe playball...

But trance is dead... people have moved on

Vuzz/Twisted would fail in a club, they haven't the funding nor the customer base.

go on, drop some more names

    Lets be realistic.

A night about the music would be great - but this is not realistic IMO. Joe does make good points about Vuzz & Twisted, but I think a weekend Twisted event would be the best way to determine wether or not it would be a feasible option. It gets reasonably busy on Wednesday's, gets a good following - peoples mates, and their mates etc can go along on a weekend when they don't have to be arsed about going to work the next day.

Unfortunatley Newcastle promotion is all about being able to drop as many names as you possibly can and very quicking moving towards only catering for those who like to wear scarves indoors.

Trance is not really a part of Newcastle anymore it seems, instead we get pretentious electro horse shit.
