That's the first time I've been skiing, so have nothing to compare it to, but the friends I was with were saying it was pretty good.

Decided to go again in a fortnight, want to try chamonix this time though. Then again near Zurich in April :)

How much was it and how long did you go for if you dont mind me asking? were there cheapy flights??

I REALLY want to go skiing, it would be fun to go with ness, he has never been, but I want to get a massive group together, its so funny that way!!

get a few lessons in, fall on your arse, get pissed on a night time ITS MINT

Snowboarding is for people who think they are really cool. It is so so hard to master, ive tried both, and love skiing the most, once you get into it its far less hard work than snowboarding is, I reckon you have to be pretty fit for it like.

I also had a day on skis when I was with the group who were boarding. It was the most scarey and wild time I have ever had on the slopes. We went down this mad bit with loads of rocks, only to get to the bottom, and a little french warning sign "PISTE" I thought fuck me ive been off piste - thats why it was way too steep and fast!

One lad did ski straight into a cabin thing and had to be airlifted to hospital with a broken arm like. I thought it was well funny. Very youve been framed.

    Slopes=not for the feint hearted

Just went for the weekend, left Friday evening and drove down from Luxembourg to the Alps in about 6hrs ish. Stayed at a friend's place, so no accomodation costs, and paid €33 for a skipass for saturday and sunday, and €26 to hire skis and boots for the weekend.

It was loads of fun, although I was the only learner there. Next time I want to go with someone else who's shit so I've got some company on the green runs!

I'm sure you'll be able to get some cheapo flights to somewhere nearby though.

how did you get to luxembourg??

not bad at all those prices like.

I would probably just stay in a little crappy place though, you are out all the time, so who cares what your room is like!

I live in luxembourg. The place we stayed in was a tiny two-room flat, we were hardly ever in it, like you say.

I was well surprised with the prices. Always thought skiing was supposed to be mega expensive, so was fairly chuffed when I paid the same for a weekend skiing as I would do for a friday night out

I'm planning a skiing trip for early on next year. I seen some 'last minute' deals this year for february that worked out at about £350 including lift passes, equipment hire, flights and accomodation for a week.

I can't remember the deal with travel insurance though, is it higher seeing as a lot of people probably break bones? My m8 pointed this out as a possible fact the other day.

you can get away for under £150 if you leave it till last minute..... go eastern europe if you wanna save money.

you can get to the alps for cheaper but the cost of living and skiing out there is 10 times what it is in e. europe.

If you want untouched pow off the beaten track slovakia is where all the powder rats are heading
