I've been in quite a few times and not seen any trouble. I think it looks a lot worse than it really is.

Consett is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be :D

The Golden Lion in Leadgate on the other hand

The bloke who got attacked outside a few months back is still in a coma and they reckon he's never gone wake up. His mate gave him a kicking cos he was looking at his girlfriend

Aye poeple getting stabbed in head with kitchens knifes and fight alarms in clubs are just folk making out a place is rough.

When i was younger and used to drink in consett on weekend it was normal to see battles involving up to 20 poeple on front street.

The Monkey had it phase when Swordy was letting all the gangsters in, not a lot of violence but intimidating at times.

Cut from the same cloth as the little charvers who wait until the doors close on the metro then start ripping into some massive chep on the platform who could clearly destroy them just as the train pulls away.

It is pretty nice in there actually, went in for a midweek bar meal and a couple of pints of Nelson last week. Got told to take my cap off and some people got turned away for wearing work gear (can never understand that). Heard it used to be a right shithole though.

Hardly. I dont think naming the x-landlord of a pub in High Farm on a clubbers messageboard could be classed as namedropping.
