For starters mate I know im not up there with the Jones it was a hypothetical siuation I was describing.

Why is acceptence not doing it for myself, If I feel accepted and happy is that not my goal for doing something myself?

I never said I dress so anyone accepts me I dress the way I dress because I feel comfortable nothing more, Ive been slated by loads of people for what I wear but it doesnt bother me because I am happy within myself :)

I know your not judging me its a healthy debate and its been a while since ive had one being on the GG board n all that :p

In reply to the posting about men im 100% comfortable with my sexuality and saying a guy has a good body with good muscles doesnt phase it in the slighest, only people that arent sure about there sexuality question these types of statements IMO

Yep its me and yes I have accepted myself, as above is a good reply to this post.

I'll break it down into simple terms:

If I punch you in the face every day for a year and then inform you that I'll stop hitting you if you don a scouse accent... if you were to start talking in scouse youre changing because I told you, even though you temporarily benefit from the changes you're still making them because I told you to.

2 weeks later I could start hitting you until you started talking with a socttish accent... You have no control over what happens your merely following someone elses instructions - your happiness is temporary and you have no control over it.

Acceptence is the same, you may think you're doing it for yourself - but you're not.

I'm not knocking the way you dress - theres nothing wrong with knitted jumpers - you just seem overly obsessed with the things that shouldn't matter in life.

You need only look at the female of species to learn that fashion and looking good is not the root to happiness.

I think we are going waaaay of topic here fella cause your starting to loose me now  wtf are you going on about, from your simple terms no one is telling me to do anything no one advises me to do anything the things I do and the actions I take are all down to me no one else therefore my actions = my happyness.

and again I dress the way I do to please me im not obsessed with the things that shouldnt matter in life as ive said if I was i'd be driving a flash car, wearing designer clothes and dating a very hot model type lady.

I think we are going round in circles now and have strayed from the point a little to be honest

Your GG past is starting to shine through... I'll break it down further:

You dont decide what clothes look good.
You don't decide what physique you wish to achieve.
You don't decide what music you listen to.

All these factors are decided by the fashion you chose to follow, I'll stray away from the more complex philisophical bullshit... but in simpleton terms - you have no input in what makes you happy.

This is why fat girls commit suicide.
This is why bald blokes spend £7000 on hair transplants.
This is models develop eating disorders.

If you fail to understand my point still you're a lost cause ;)

They're almost all as trivial as fashion as all are given value by the society we belong to.

What makes fashion trivial but a good job important?

There is a heirachy with the trivial and fashion is pretty much the bottom of what we should strive to achieve in life.... But I also believe that far too much importance is given to something like a job.

Many peoples lives pass them by because of work and they're left with a life time of missed opertunities

If you dress/act to gain acceptance, then society in general is telling you what to do. And moreover you sound like a cock.

there's so many ways this could all go... it could explain why people seek religion to define their role in the univerise, etc..

Im stuck in the GG rut give me a few days to get out of it and i'll be back to normal

I understand your point completely but I strongly disagree with you, fashion doesnt drive me and I know other people like me too. I know alot of people that will do things to look good because its the thing to do but I dont. You not knowing me you can not understand this but it is the truth :)

Joe we could go round in circles for days and days and no one would win this debate because neither of us know whats going on in the other ones head.

You have stated your points and I understand and respect them and I have stated mine.

Lets just agree to disagree or we'll be here for a very long time!
