Now that these new licensing laws are coming into effect, the government decides in its infinite wisdom that the breweries and drinks companies bear some of the brunt for the cost of the extra policing needed. This of course, will filter down to us mere mortals. Its bad enough when a pint goes up a couple of pence once in a while, yeah? How does 15p sound? And thats across the board for all pubs, whether it be your local, or city centre bar.

It's people's choices where, when and if they should go out drinking. I don't see 15p causing any outrage except amongst students, because fuck all people vote with their feet these days.

Personal Licenses allow you to be the Licensee in any premises with a Premises License. It's valid for 10 years, and you don't need to apply to anyone if you are going to take over a Premises. The Premises and Personal Licenses also take over what was covered by the Gaming, Entertainment, etc Licenses too, so they are now all in one. It also allows for selling alcohol in unlicensed premises a certain number of times a year...

Totally agree, i cant believe the government think this will reduce alcohol related crime and binge drinking.

it will help tony blur get elected by all the sun reading beer swilling chava scum tho (who used to vote tory when maggie was in charge & when old labour had a ginger haired welshman called mr kinnock)

I could be wrong but the latest pubs owned by ultimate leisure (and lets face it lots of them are) will open till will be 2am , otherwise they'd have to sell off their clubs where we get to pay rip off drinks prices

i very much doubt it with 3 or 4 apartment blocks being built surrounding foundation, one directly outside the front door

Its interesting in light of what mark says.... We might see a gradual decline of the idea of having a large club as a place to 'go' after the bars shut.... and rather people will just pick and choose venues on a different range of factors - rather than the idea of hitting bars beforehand and then to a classic 'club' environment later on.

The 1am licenses in places like stereo have changed the way alot of people socialise when they stay out late - You can pretty much spend the evening there and have both the clientele, the music and the prices you want all within one roof. With that in mind it pretty much doesnt make sense to go to ANOTHER club with a cover charge and high prices and traveling times on top of that.

Maybe the future is smaller venues with a more 'exclusive' (interpret that how you will) crowd, but at the same time a wider range of music and experience on offer since theres less of a need to cater for a club full of 1300 clubbers, than there is to suit say only 300 people.

At the same time, it might be the beginning of the end of being able to be in a jam packed club with everyone going crazy when a great track is played - Those days might be numbered.

your right there..those apartments will probably cause big problems for foundation...residents will complain about shaggin, fighting, pissing and open drug taking in the street...Dont buy an apartment opposite a nightclub then wankers
