Subways is proper horrible, might aswell be eating on of those plastic sandwiches that you used to get with those kitchen sets that your sister got for xmas when she was 6

I am biased but if anyone lives in Jesmond, go to Cafe Bar One on Jesmond Road, awesome sandwiches in there

    lol no they didn't.

the ira rumour had nothing to do with noriad.. it started when mcdonals used the acronym IRA on documents... it stood for Individual Retirement Account.

Just because its healthier than mcdonalds it doesn't make it healthy... the sandwiches are made up of skin, fat, gizzards, liver, heart, hooves, feet, high levels of Sodium, etc... Any nutrionist will tell you subways aren't healthy.

And they're rancid - its like chewing on plastic.

I would definately say a subway was healthier than the average macdonalds meal - ON THE WHOLE.... but :

    1. the bread is made from processed flour, commerically produced, fast rising dough. Which is very bad for you.

    2. The 'meat' isnt really fit for anything other than the family pet.

    3. The 'cheese' is made in a factory.

    3. The cookies and sugary soft drinks they pimp with their meal deals arent healthy.

I'd eat a subway meal 99 times for every 1 maccy D's given the choice - but they arent the holy grail of health.

lol, that was a way the naysayers jovially dispelled the rumour, the letters IRA appeared on payslips.. it had everything to do with noraid.

but then brakes, who supply about 90%+ of the catering industry source their food from exactly the same places..

can someone substantiate the hoof and gizzard claim please?

and if it is, it can be no worse than the hoof and gizzard meat that lines the ailses of tesco / sainsburys the country over...

Well i think it just draws attention to the fact that perhaps the notion of 'fast food' is something we need to seriously reconsider.

Our friends over in europe dont have the same problems as we do - freshly baked bread, local cheese and meats and stuff..... it aint exactly hard.

    Re: Subway...

Fenwicks sandwiches are gorgeous, as are those from Baps. Might have to pop out at lunchtime for one!

fenwicks is very good... i've never heard of half the bread like... but it's nice. You spend most your lunch queing then watching them make the frigger!

Big Macs have shit all nutritional content so no matter how many 'hot tatty dinners' (whatever the fuck that means  ) I had it wouldn't make a jot of difference other than to give me skinny arms and pot belly...

ssshhessh - how long did u live in Newcastle ? even I know this one,....

desc; HOT TATTY DINNER : A sunday roast meal, primarily consisting of potatos (tatties) in various forms - boiled, mashed and roast, a roast farm animal meat joint, usually chicken, beef or lamb with a selection of vegatables, usually boiled within an inch of their life or roasted, served with yorkshire pudding the size of football pitches and covered in gravy. and mint sauce.

THATS a 'HOT TATTY DINNER'

Ring first and order it for a certain time then you can just jump straight to the front of the queue. :)
