tiesto mightnt be anything that amazing... but the scale of the crowds he has played to is unreal, he has produced some amazing tracks, Adagio for Strings and his mix of Silence are both legendary tunes in their own right.

    thats just my opinion anyway.

    obviously no one agrees :D

I love Tiesto but hes not got anythiong on half the djs mentioned, his mix of Adagio is nothing on William Orbits or Ferrys and imo Silence sounds cheesey i cant stand to listen to it at the moment.

He's produced much better and remixed much better than them......Nyana, Sparkles, Theme From Njorfell, Suburban Train, In My Memory and as far as his remixes go...Delerium - Innocente and Jan Johnson - Flesh are probably his best imo.

Yeah that just in one style i.e.Trance

Most of the other dj's produce, have their own labels or have supported the scene from the start.

Tiesto is a massive dj, but does not really crossover at all into other dance styles.

Also he appears to be init more for the money now than to inovate or push the scene forewards. IMO.

Saville was the first person to play records using two turntables, from what ive read anyway.

youre joking right, theyre possibly the two worst mixes hes done!!!

the fade sanctuary mix and ferry mix of the aforementioned tunes wipe the floor with tiestos.

hes done nothing for the scene, has never really tried to pioneer any new sounds or anything, he was an awesome trance dj a couple of year ago but that was all, though now hes not even that imo, has been piss poor everytime ive seen/heard him over last 18 months.

John o Callaghan summed Tiesto up on matts board, said tiestos PR is his strong point, because if you locked all the trance dj's in a room and heard them all on the same system under the same conditions, Tiesto wouldnt be the best, far from it. Though down to good PR he has everyone else thinking that he is the best. Fair comment imo.

    *awaits argument from aaron*

TBF though it is in his own opinion, so he can have him if he wants:p

In a decades, etc when trance is dead, and we're sitting around talking about legends of the scene, Tiesto will defo be mentioned though

Ok i guess i didnt pick out his better stuff lol. They were the 2 mp3s i had on my desktop and i was trying to make a point quickly

tunes like traffic and urban train etc warrant some respect.

the bloke is a bit of a money grabber but he pulls a crowd time and time again.

most of them no, because theyre not doing anything different to other trance dj's. the ones that will stand out will be the ones that pioneered the trance sound before anyone else, people imo like van dyk, sasha & oakie. people like tiesto, armin ect will be remembered as being good trance dj's, but thety havent done anything for the scene compared to some of the names mentioned in this thread.

For Trance id say PVD totally changed the way people thought of it with his then and probs now "Electronic Dance Music" - he still is a cut above ya average T DJ and i would say that regardless of if he is me fave DJ or not.

As far as other go Judge Jules should be given alot of credit for what he has done for the music industry for years and even tho he is some peoples fave DJ now he was probably alot of peoples back in the day, i know i used to like him alot from being back at school and the then live friday night shows on radio 1...

Pete Tong's the same then people like Danny Rampling, Jeremy Healey, Carl Cox, Sasha & Digweed.

    :D

sasha has never played full on hands in the air trance, but some of the stuff he used to play late 90's time was definitely prog trance, around the time he made xpander  and played regular at crasher and various other trance nights.

ive got awesome sasha mix from '99, kicking crasher all over by dropping xpander, into hale bopp, into van dyk avenue
