    But even Brandon on its own is likely to get shortened. Can you honestly imagine the kids at school will call him Brandon-Jay? More likely a shortened version of just Brandon (Brandy, god forbid).

    To be honest though, being called BJ is probably preferable to Brandy!

    Not having a go at you personally, just don't really understand the trend for the double-barrelled first name. My first thought when calling a kid anything would be the likely things it would get shortened to.
