If deer were not hunted in most parts of the country then there would be a high likelihood that, as a British species they would dwindle becasue no one would take care of them/breed them as they would have no specific need to. also no one would cultivate the land they live on to create a good environment for them to live in - so hunting, you could say, keeps them alive.

the same applies to grouse - if the heather on the moor were not burned every year in order for it to die and then new shoots grow up (which birds like grouse and pheasant feed on) then they would have less natural habitat to exist on and far less food - so there would be a high likelihood that the population would decrease.

yeah, shooting things pointlessly is wrong, but most game shooting is done for food and if shooting did not take place then it is unlikely that we would have as thriving diversity in the countryside as we do.

    :D

30 men on horses with 30 or so dogs chasing a single fox till it's ripped to bits - sport? the WWF is more sport than that for fucks sake.

    pest control my arse.

    seems pointless.

    part of our culture?

dunno if i agree with the whole rigmarole (sp?) of the hunt - foxes need to be got rid of somehow though - lamping is more common.

I dont agree with the way its done.

BUT - I do agree it has to be done SOMEHOW....they jus seem to have chosen the wrong way to go about it........

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT............i definately think that is should be way at the bottom of list of things to worry about....there are far more important things that seem to get overlooked

One thing that REALLY gets to me is them adverts on the telly...give £2/month to help sick children bla bla.....then 5mins later another advert...give £3/month to look after sick animals.....:wtf: ???

    Priorities wrong? I think so.

I used to be in Her Majestys Forces and Army officers are the stereotypical type who go hunting... some are as down to earth as you say but believe me most are not

me going to a hunt aint going to change tha fact it's pointless.

all that to kill 1 fox? waste of resources. Jimmy and his gun would be a more efficent way.

what excuse can u give to say it's a legitimate way of doing it?
