It doesn't make a diff what job you do, as long as your job is on a permanent contract. RBS do income multiples of 4.9 x your income. On interest only on a 100% basis it would work out at £440 a month roughly and on a 95% basis about £360 so tbh its not that much more than what people pay in rent if not less

depends what your buying for, if its your property then yes, if its an investment then not necessarily. in the first 10 years you pay mainly interest on your mortgage anyway

your just don't understand me, the part in my post that said,

'i know a bank won't give me a mortgage with monthly payments of £866', refers to the fact that i know its not that easy and it goes on your annual income.

Alex> I know what lifestyles various salaries can afford, so unless you've got savings/inheritance then you're day-dreaming.

Pete> You should be fucking embarassed. Earning tht much and still living at home? Have a word.

yeah but not everyones lifestyle is the same, so you haven't a fucking clue what i can afford.

i can afford to live fine now on £10,000 a year, how would it not be possible for me to get a house and still live happily with an extra 8000 in my pocket each year.

me lee and another mate were thinking of buying a brand new house. i thought hard about it but decided against it cos of the job situation and the fact i wouldnt want to get into a mortage with 2 mates.
