    I think that's more a case of when you're visiting those places you don't go to the rough areas where kids would hang about doing nothing but earning ASBOs. Everywhere I've lived on the continent (France, Germany, Luxembourg) has been just as rough as the places I've lived in the UK (Newcastle, Liverpool, London).

    Crimes overated imo

    I live in one of the worst areas of the worst boroughs of London and the only crime ive ever seen in 7 months is 2 blokes having a fight at 2am


    although someone found a live hand granade near my mates flat afew months ago :lol:

    Yeah, none of my mates or me has been murdered so I reckon that's over-hyped too.

    National crime levels have decreased over the last 20 years, contrary to media hype.

    Fear of crime has however increased, people assume more crime is happening so they install cameras, which then serve to push a sense of criminality, therefore increasing the fear further and so on.

    The cameras, ostensibly there to prevent crime taking place, serve no purpose other than to induce fear on the public.

    statistics move around, some crimes decline (like car theft) while others experience steep rises (like violent crime).

    That may be, but overall crime (upon what terms that is defined I'm not entirely sure) figures have decreased over the last two decades.

    We're victims of mass media hysteria.
