Promise already has its fair share of charvas, it wouldn't survive without them. You must remember that the club is unlikely to get a huge following of charvettes, cos they don't like the music. No charvettes....no charvas to chase after them...so it'll never be over run by them. Most of them are harmless anyway, a few pints beforehand, a few disco biscuits...and ...hey presto...they're everyones mate.

This board is far too cliquey among it's more 'senior staff' - have an opinion that doesn't agree with thiers and they jump right down yer throat!

I like Promise, had a wicked night at Newcastle and Hull - if I didn't want to support the place I wouldn't be helping to promote Promise Hull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was never suggesting the Dave Pearce night would not be popular, I'm sure it will - is it a case though that your not bothered with the crowd you may attract as long as Foundation is full? I was implying people like Dave Pearce will not attract 'clubbers' from further outside Newcastle, not like Yoji, SHOKK (ie the usual quality Promise line-ups would)

like Johan Gielen did? Its not about where the clubbers come from, its about how many of them there are in this case! Id rather see Promise rammed full of geordies, than half full of people from elsewhere!

Im not gonna go too far into the Dave Pearce debate. All i have to say really on the matter is i wont be attending that week. I go most weeks and am a great supporter of the club. But that week i will be either having a quiet one, travelling elsewhere or saving myself for the dig. Hope everyone that goes has a great night.

Doggie: People don't travel to go to Promise anyway, it's a local club, you've made it a local club and if people do make hte journey it's a once every 6 months visit when the lineup is right and I suppose 'it's abit of a change'.

Gielen wasn't busy was it, well that says more about the Promise clubbers than the dj. The fact that people are looking forward to Dave Pearce playing says a hell of alot too.

As much as they may be all well and good, you have to priortise and realise that they arent well coveraged and arent well loved by all.

You make it a local club, you only have yourselves to blame, you segregrate yourselves up there in Newcastle.

yesterday you were saying it was the early finishes and the fact that at the most there would be 2 big name djs which lead to people not travelling to Promise, now you're saying its the crowd?

Take a look at that post again whereever it is, I did point out problems with the club and with the crowd, I've already pointed this one out. The standard of the clubber isn't necessarily fairing upto the image that Promise is trying to protray for itself.

Friendly yes, good fucking people, Yes but Sharon and Traceys and Kevin and Perrys in each corner of the room don't make a top notch club.

The fact that top notch djs which fill top notch clubs arent doing the same at Promise shows to me that Promise so called 'clubbers' just arent appreciating good music. As soon as Dave Pearce is booked, yes I'll say it again Dave Pearce, everyone starts to rant and rave about how mint the night is going to be and how it is a step forward for the club.

People are incredibly snobby about their music, I wouldn't go as far to say snobby but extremely passionate and know good music when they see it, people become educated, they then understand what is pap and what isn't there on in.

The fact that people are welcoming and warming to the idea of Dave Pearce playing at Promise, djs give clubs the reputation, so if you want to give off that kind of image, then so be it, you're doing yourselves no favours already as it is.

You have 2 kinds of clubber and Promise is going down the very wrong route. It's no skin off my nose, go ahead, it's just a shame, it's a great club, but it has faults, some I think just can not be repaired

Dont look at me, i never had the idea, or the want for Dave Pearce to be on... but, u gotta look at it from Marks point of veiw. Dare I say it (and in doin so, will probably get shat on from a very high high) its a quick fix solution, it cash in a flash. Going back to Chris's post was that when i go to promise, i d rather see it full than half full regardless of where the people come from, on the other hand i d much rather it were full of "up for it clubbers" than full of tracys and sharrons (does that make sense). Once again, i risk gettin shat on, but im gonna say it, i dont think promise advertise enough either... damn two pages on Yoji in Mixmag, yet not a mention that he was playing his first gig of the UK in Promise (it would have been a perfect opportunity to get a huge number of clubbers who cant do the Tidy weekender to come to Promise). (Mark i hope u realise i m not trying to tell you how to do a job which i would not have a clue about).

i see exactly where you re coming from about going down 2 different routes. I would hate to see it dissapear down the wrong route. You know what the crack is though, one person raves on about someone, everyone does, its called licking arse...

Promise most definitely is a local club. Everyone seems to know everyone, which is a great thing, but its only locals who go, and by all accounts it doesnt seem like enough locals go. Look at everyone on this board, i'd say 95% of ppl on here are either from Newcastle/Sunderland etc or originate from there.

I personally don't think Dave Pearce is a good move for the club. It may bring in a big crowd and big money but could harm the reputation of the club. On the other hand, is there any chance ppl will go for Dave Pearce for the first time and keep going again, once they know about the club? Personally, I don't think that'll occur, but it might do.

I agree with Doggie that advertising is essential. There are posters round Newcastle but national listings might be an option.
