A good mate and I looked into buying an apartment in Dubai at the beginning of last year for £44k. Beach front too. But we didn't want to take such a big risk.

The same bastard apartment is now £160k :(

So what would you do then. Stick it all in the bank and sit there miserable as fuck?

You've got to enjoy some of it.

We've already covered off the fact you could live off the interest, that's obvious - Bright spark  ;)

We're just saying we could get rid of a million quid in no time if we wanted to.

if it was weekly that would earn you 2.08 million in one year, thats like 100+% interest rate/annum. No back gives you 100% intereat rate/annum.

If you put your money into the average current account so it was all instant access you probs get about 0.5% p.a. Therefore you'd only be getting about £416.67 per month interest - which is added yearly, so you'd get £5k interest each year gross.

I'd stick £50k in one of them so I could get fucked with my mates.

£500k on a house in an area where prices were likely to rise, then invest £300k in government backed gilts or Corporate bonds and leave £250k sat in a Building Society Deposit account earning about 3.5% interest p.a. (which I opted to have paid monthly and transferred to my current account via direct debit) paying £729 per month gross.

    Happy

    ;)
