Yeah looks pretty good, have you seen the spec though, it has 3 core cpu running at 3.2GHz, and 512 of Ram, what I want to know is how the fuck can they get that into something thats costs £200.

It's only backwards compatible if you get the hard drive. If you do then it definitely is. Otherwise not as the system can't handle it.
TBH, I dn;t know why they're bothered- ps2 is backwards compatible and i dunno when the last time i played a ps1 game on it was

no apparently you can buy it with or without, apparently you don't need it to play games it just there to put music and stuff on.

and you can't play xbox games on the 360

I'm pretty sure it is backwards compatible- xbox live people can play against xbox live people on the 360 as long as they have the removable harddiskand are both using the xbox version of the game.
The removable harddisk is an extra $100 and is rumoured to include webtv but i don;t know how true that is.

Just have to wait and see for sure though i guess.

"Xbox Live is an online gaming service that works across both the current Xbox system and the future Xbox 360. You will be able to play online and compete against others across both consoles. If you are playing an Xbox game on Live you will be able to compete against people playing that same game on Xbox 360."

The above quote is a few weeks old and doesn’t necessarily imply backwards compatiblity. It’s possible that this could mean that they’re simply going to rerelease Xbox 360 versions of current Xbox titles

I think this may be of interest to ya..

    Xbox 360 Game Trailers..

    Gears of War looks unbelievable!!

Majority of this stuff is taken from ingame FMV sequences.. by ingame I mean it uses the same engine that you would use to play the game!..

This thing is way more powerful than a modern day pc.. especially for the price its probably gonna sell at.

And its got a custom watercooled cpu.. oh my god..

Thats because they'll be selling the console at a loss just like the original xbox. Microsoft make their money back through a royalty fee on the games.

Besides, when it launches (meant to be christmas) that spec would have come down drastically in price. It cost me about £300 to put together a PC with an XP3000, the same amount of ram as above and a radeon 9800. And that was just before christmas. You gotta bear in mind that they'll be getting the parts for trade price so it'll probs be cheaper again.

yes but ur pc does not have :

    Memory
    -512 MB GDDR3 RAM
    - 700 MNz DDR

    Memory Bandwidth
    - 22.4 GB/s memory interface bus bandwidth
    - 256 GB/s memory bandwidth to EDRAM
    - 21.6 GB/s frontside bus

gddr3 ram with that sort of bandwidth involved.

    plus

    Custom ATI Graphics Processor
    - 500 MNz
    - 10 MB embedded DRAM
    - 48-way parallel floating-point shader pipelines
    - unified shader architecture

    that thing is the shit!

To be fair mate, if a PC with parts 18 months old could beat the shit out of a new high end console, you gotta start asking questions :p

I was using the point to illustrate how cheap you can get the parts. I build my shuttle before christmas gone, there's no way I'd expect it to compete.

    Just for comparison: spec here

It'll be interesting to see whether it's a 32-bit or 64-bit PPC that the xbox uses. Either way using that hardware is asking for trouble - people will be chipping all over again...
