Xbox 360 Elite What ever you do dont buy one of these peices of shite! It's EXACTLY the same as the original 360 except it has a HDMI lead with it, the hardware is still very cheap shitty parts of Taiwanese duck muck & it's still as loud as fuck & still has a high tendancy to clap out after every 3 month of use. I only no this as my cousin works for Midway & has been testing the console for a couple of weeks now & he says its appauling:sick:& still creates the dreaded red lights of doom quite frequently.
i think it looks like a pretty good deal, i like the scalability of the 360, you want to spend the big buck, you can do, you don't want to, you dont have to.... i still think my 360 is the fucking nuts, game wise it pisses on ps3
Me and abotu 4 of my mates have had a 360 since launch and never had any problems at all with it at all. Will def be gettign an elite when they're out.
My m8 had to send his off for repair at the end of may and it only got returned a couple of days ago. They replaced it with a new console though. The bloke in Gamestation said he shouldn't have bothered sending it off as they would have given him a new one anyway. Just a tip for anyone else who needs to get theirs repaired.
Like i said my cousin's been testing the 360 Elite for a few weeks now down at the Midaway studios at Team Valley & he said it's exactly the same shitty machine but with a few add-ons. The HD DVD player is still 60 times less quality than the PS3's Blu-Ray player so why go for HD when PS3's is MD (maximum definition)?
what a load of bollocks. read - http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6463_7-6462511-2.html?tag=nav the blue ray has more storage space - thats it. it's maximum resolution as a video disc is identical (1080p) to that of HD DVD. and all that extra storage space? means hd dvd's can be 8 hours long, blu ray can be 9, theres the difference from a movie point of view - and how many games do we envisage in the near future using over 30 gig of data? no chance.
360 games wont use HD-DVD though so you're looking at 9gb max for a Xbox360 game and upto around 50 for a bluray. At the moment this won't make a difference but surely going forwards it will cause some limitations
It's actually 50GB of data, not 30GB & of course developers will use all of the space, games that have that much data in them will be undoubtably supirior to any other due to the fact they can store massive amounts of game data, audio, videos & eventually run 3-4 game engines instead of one, not even a P.C / MAC has that capability.
3-4 game engines in one game? Why would people choose to do that?, surely it takes developers long enough to come up with one game engine, let alone 4. how would you implement different engines? through shooting, to driving sections or something? Seems a strange idea to me
oh, and as for the bit saying a pc/mac doesnt have that ability, u can buy a bluray drive for a pc. So i cant see how it wouldnt be possible. not that the pc is gonna be quick to adopt a new format of course
I am aware that a BluRay drive is available on the market, the enormous price tag might put people off though! You had a good point saying that a P.C / MAC wont adapt BluRay as a new format any time soon, i doubt they ever will to be honest but you never no. I'm just trying to get the point across that the PS3, game wise is an amazing machine. Saying that, my cousin's put £7000 in 2 his P.C & that would wipe the floor with the PS3 & 360, it is a developers kit though as he works for midway lol
You sure seem to harp on about your cousin at midway! As a games machine i dont see how the ps3 is "Amazing". I mean, you came from a 360, to a ps3... what major advancements are you noticing? considering 90% of the ps3s games library is also on the 360, i really dont understand what is so mind blowing for you. Ignoring MSs fuck up with the 360 red ring of death malarky, you seem to be missing the fact that it has fantastic games, it has an established Live system which is great. And games like Gears of War look fantastic on HD TV. The difference between the two consoles is minimal on screen, yet you seem to be so obsessed with the brilliance that only you seem to be seeing on the ps3
