    Word help please

I have been using word fine today and then I'm not sure what I've done but when I go into word and open a new document it wont type. In the bottom left it says 'this command is unavailable because the document is locked for edit.' I have tried shutting down, but it's still not typing. If anyone knows what I have done and how to fix it I would really apprecaite your help . Thank you :D XxXxX

oof, just had a search of the microsoft site there.

is your copy of office legit? because if not here's the bill gates response:

"HideThis command is not available because the document is locked for editing

If you see the following message when you try to modify a document in Word 2003 or Word 2002: "This command is not available because the document is locked for editing," your Word program might not be activated. To check, do the following:

    * On the Help menu, click Activate Product.

If Word is activated, a message tells you that the product was already activated. If Word is not activated, the Office Activation Wizard appears to guide you through the activation process."

Thank you, I have done a bit of investigation it's a disc drive that was given to me by a mate, he doesn't remember if it was legit version or not and the wizard tells me to contact customer support, but dunno if I should incase it's not + the only numbers I can find I would need to take out a loan to call if they keep me on any length of time. So we're still at square one
    Thanks though!! :D

yeah, dont bother - it's obv a illegal copy, and if you did ring them they'd hammer you to buy it/track you down and you'd have bill gates smashing your door down with a mousemat.

The Illegal way round this: Re-download it and dont register it.

The Legal Way round: buy a copy.

both work, however the illegal way is free
