Woodgate has only recently returned to action after a two-month lay-off with a torn hamstring. He featured in the Copa del Rey against Athletic Bilbao before playing the 90 minutes of the 0-0 draw against Villarreal on Sunday. His efforts have taken their toll, with Real's medical staff giving Woodgate an easy couple of days in training. Rather than risk aggravating his slight strain further, Real have restricted the centre half to working in the gym, instead of with his team-mates. Real hope this policy will prevent another lengthy absence for Woodgate, who could be drafted into the squad for Thursday's return clash with Bilbao if he proves his fitness. Woodgate missed his debut season with Real due to injury and the current campaign has taken on a stop-start nature.
The kid's an absolute lightweight. Saying that getting as much as we did for him kind of makes up for some of the utter crap we've picked up at a premium (kluivert springs to mind )
