wireless problems again - i love you geeks hiya geeks i have a small annoying problem with my pc and laptop connection - unless i start both at exactly the same - the connection doesnt work for ages, im using a program on my PC called RaLink to blast the signal as it is an ad-hoc connection, and needs to be blasted as wireless access points are not used. i try "rescan" "connect" the full whack - nowt will make them talk to each other, and i know they are the right settings as after a while they work. Everything i can set to automatic detection is set, firewalls ok, i think they just ned some councilling to keep up communication. ive lost my resident wireless genius mr fee, so im turning to you guys for some help. i like this new smilie - :fart: !
Not knowing a) the software you're blathering about 2) what you're blathering about in the first place - try this general bit of network help : Check what SPEEDS they're trying to connect at. For example, if you have a switch/router set to 'AUTO NEGOIATE' AND the network card to do the same - they'l' both just try for ages till they settle at a real slow speed. However if you set 1 at a particular speed (i.e. 10Meg Full Duplex) the other will comply. SO - if u can somehow configure/set the network card to connect at a certain speed (go to network connections, select the properties of the 'Wireless' network then go to configure the card and have a look around for a 'Speed/Duplex' setting
I have an edimax wireless PCI lan card on my pc, which uses raLink-a program which helps the little blaster blast its signal oot my laptop uses intel 802.11b centrino thingymajiggy, which works at 11mbps, tops, all the time, never slows, never reconnects, sweet as a nut its just getting the damn things working! like i say if they arent switched on within seconds of each other, they wont even say that they see each other. WIRELESS CONNECTION NOT FOUND (it also helpfully says contect your network sdministrator if the problem persists, which is me. )
I had an edimax wireless adapter. But it wouldnt work if windows was controlling the wireless network. had to switch it off and use the software provided. Sometimes windows regained control and hence it stopped working, so check that!
at work when we upgraded to sp2 some of the ones with sp1 wudnt communicate until we upped them to sp2 as well !!
