its a right pain in the arse Lister. I tried to set up a wireless network at Little Daves house.

you need a router, wireless, like juski says. and you will need to register the MAC address with telewest etc...

your best ringing their technical helpline, they will tell you eveyrthing you need to do.

you can get an ADSL wireless router. I bought one of those last August when I got b/band. Its the whole lot rolled into one. Was about 120 notes when I got it. Took me about 2 hours to set up. Was on straight away with no problems. I would recommend it

get a wireless broadband router - about 47+vat from ebuyer.

You plug your cable modem into that with ethernet cable.

Then its just a case of setting your pc/mac to access the web using the IP address of the router/gateway.

    Piece of cake.

    question:

I'm gonna be living with a few mates next yr and we intend to get a 2megabit bb line, and set up a wireless network, what would be the maximum amount of users you could have sharing the connection?

dont think there is a maximum limit of users, but wireless bandwidth is only 11mb unless u can get higher one now. so u would all be sharling that 11mb line
    i maybe wrong though

it depends on the networking equipment that u have...

bt do a modem that can network 10 pc's to broadband but like revel said it'll slow rite down but even with a few of ya's on line 2gether it'll still b faster than dial up!! :)

yeah, well theres only really gonna be a maximum of 3 of us that are gonna be using it at any given moment, so if we do get a 2 megabit line, it's still faster than normal broadband even when all three of us are on it.

    :D
