wireless configuration ok, i have a toshiba portege a100, which has both standard 10/100Mbps wired networking and 802.11b WiFi centrino. how the fuck do i change the speed from 11mbps if it can do more? my little aerial thingy blasts a 54mbps and i have the need for speed, but its not underground.
U doubt me?!?! Aye 802.11B is def max 11mb/sec....dont expect that speed constantly tho........ Ur wired lan card mebbe 10/100mbs but ur wireless is max 11mb/sec am fraid!
what i mean is i dont know if it really is 801. whatever. can you find out independantly as i only checked one source so i do not know how reliable this claim is
Toshiba Portege A100 - Pentium M 1.4 GHz - RAM 256 MB - HD 40 GB - CD-RW / DVD-ROM combo - Mdm - LAN EN, Fast EN, 802.11b - Win XP Pro - 12.1" TFT 11mb/sec max am fraid loosy
whats wrong with what u have like??? if u REALLY want faster u can buy a PCMCIA expansion card for nice n cheap
whats one of them? the convenience of having it inside the laptop is great though. i just wanted my pooter to be better, it was even made when the 801.g was out which runs on 54mbps. whats the point of putting old technology in
old = cheaper. u can get a pcmcia card tho what will jus plug in side if ureally want 54mbs (faster available now i think too.....) just look on www.ebuyer.co.uk for "PCMCIA wireless"
yeh, im under the impression the majority of centrino wirelesss systems are 'b' as opposed to the new 'g' it's not really needed by most anyway, unless my net connection suddenly got 20x quicker than it currently is, and it's not slow
Don't forget though, the 11mbps/54mbps only referrs to transfers on your own internal network and will have NO effect what so ever on the speed of your internet connection unless you are on some extreme uber uni connection PS - There is no mainstream wireless technology in pc's laptops that is not 802.11b/g and in rare cases a, so it wouldnt be owt else! Apart from bluetooth and infra red of course, both of which are shit for networking.
He's just trying to confuse u with his cut and paste's from google  He's saying if u get a faster wireless network it wont make ur internet go any faster, which U already knew i guess? Pesky kids n their fancy jargon
