    Windows Updates

Would you still be able to download them if you had a 'dodgy' copy of windows?

I,m sure i read that there is so many legal copys out there that it wasnt worth the effort to try and stop the people with illegal copys getting the updates, because it would cause more problems to the people with legal copys , if that makes sense :D

You can use Automatic Update and Windows Update if you have a legit copy of XP.

You can use Automatic Update only if you have a dodgy copy.

They did block it all post SP2, but the problem with doing this is that a machine with a dodgy licence and no updates is vulnerable to all sorts of exploits and viruses, and in the long run is more likely to do damage or be used against a machine with a legit copy, so they turned Automatic back on...

Not sure if this is true as I'm running a legit uni copy, but our lecturers told us that this is how they've got it set up.

Automatic updates are fine with copies of me.

For the windows update site though, you need to get hold of the Windows Genuine Advantage workaround if you have a copy of me. Easy-peasy.
