will he wont he ??? Newcastle United have made a new, improved contract offer to full back Olivier Bernard. The 25-year-old's current deal expires in the summer and he has never been short on informing the club of his displeasure at the lack of progress over talks. Talks have been stalling in recent weeks, but Newcastle have now moved to seal his future with a five-year offer believed to be worth just over £1 million per season. Although the deal is unlikely to represent a major increase for Bernard it is the length of the contract that Newcastle will hope can persuade the Frenchman to stay. "We have tried to come to a compromise with Olivier Bernard and his representatives and we have made what we consider a very good offer," said chairman Freddy Shepherd. "It's an improved offer and we are hoping that he decides to sign it and play for us for the next five years." Bernard is able to negotiate with other clubs in less than a month and Newcastle are desperate to avoid that situation.
