why do people always windge about a bad mix

what is it with most of you people you allways go on about how bad the mixing was and never how good (or bad) the tunes were
ive noticed alot of you do it mainly the bedroom djs.
at the end of the day i think you should be into dj'ing for the music and not about how good jules mixed last week at the uni.

Do you not think they should be able to do BOTH?

Are do you think it is a bit much to expect a 'self employed tradesmen' to be highly skilled at their trade?

You are right about bedroom DJs a lot of them think above themselves.

I'm a clubber, not a DJ. I can hear when a mix is out, but lots of good djs do that, and just correct it. Some people do seem to be fixated about mixing tho!

Mixing seems to me a basic skill to be mastered pretty early on. Once you know how to do it, just do it, then you can concentrate on somehting important like how the crowd are reacting to your tunes, what they react well too, what tune are you gonna play next to get the night to where it needs to go...

There are certain technical skills you need to be able to dj, and mixing is one of them. But DJing isn't something you can be taught, it's more of an art, and it's all about interacting with the crowd.

I think of it like driving a car. You have to learn how to change gear, but driving well is fuck all about changing gear, it's just one of the small things yo gotta do, and do well.

Any DJs can tell me I'm talking shite, but as a clubber I know what I'm talking about

Re: why do people always windge about a bad mix

This is getting really boring now, everybody is entitled to their opinion about what a good DJ is about. They are all in it for the music, just because they are also bothered about it technically, doesnt mean they aren't in it for the music.

I often find its the people who are technically worse off, or like DJ's that are technically worse off that tend to highlight that its all about the music and who cares how good a DJ can mix......

Clubbing would be extremely boring if this was done all the time............... think about it, then I think you would care more. For someone who has just got some MK3's and HD25's and all that, I didnt expect you to think that way, which is interesting. Everyone is entitled to their opinions of course, even those who talk complete bullshit!:D

I enjoy mixing as much as the next guy, I just believe that its totally not as important as some people make mixing out to be.

Simple as that. Some people have this idea that mixing is the most important thing in the world. Its not!!!!!!!!!

Yes you should be a good mixer if you want to be a dj, but when Im on a night out, so long as everything goes ok, and the tune selection is good then thats all I care about.

When I get to a compitant level at djing, my attitude may change!!!!

mixing isn't all important cos you can get away with it as long as the tunes are great but it gets annoying when some dj's are just bad mixers like scott bond, mario piu, tiesto etc!! or when they cut out songs randomly halfay through like tiesto and dumonde!!

but obviuosly they have other talents to get them where they are so good for them really!!
