whq whats it like on a saturday night? anyone been recently? does it get busy? whats the music policy at the minute? i need answers, please and thank you
last saturday night i went to was about 2 months ago and it was dead, that was when all the students went home i think though.....was playing allsorts though bit of cheese aswell lol
i like the venue, i've been a few times just never had the chance to go on a normal saturday before, and im being roped in to it this weekend after i finish work - at 1.30am i can tolerate most music, what does the resident play?
Jase you will like it mate.. Tom plays anything from reggae early doors through to boogie classics/hip hop/funk and uptempo bits later on No real set music policy, but all very soulfull..
whq is probably the best venue in newcastle i'd say. one of them at least. as far as i know jase it's tommy, the lad who owns it, who plays on a saturday. it's good crack down there on a weekend, busy when there's students about and he usually plays a bit of everything, funk/soul/etc.
Is it still the guy with the afro who still plays there? I went a couple of times a few years ago and there wasnt any music policy as such, a bit of anything and everything though no cheesy pop - it was all pretty decent. The strangest moment i remember was an elton john record getting dropped and it totally went off
I go over after finishing at enigma every now and then and it's always a good party, sound crowd and staff, really really good drinks prices, good party tunes that keep everyone happy, I always consider it the safe bet for a good night on a Saturday
had a mint time on saturday, thanks for the feedback lads! everyone is really fucking friendly in that club, even the guy on the door seemed genuinely happy to be there getting people paid up and on their way the music was excellent all night, there was a few times i didnt know what i was dancing to (40's jazz?) and the lil lady wasnt sure about the interludes and speeches (i liked them though). its definitly got a great vibe in the place and the mixture of everything from james brown to deee-lite really works in that room - looking forward to going back
